The world's largest energy drink can is 5 liters!
Monster's Mega (710ml) is huge! ... Indeed, it’s big. However, when you learn about the BFC (976ml), you realize that even bigger cans exist in America, and I’m truly amazed by that.
But there’s an even larger energy drink in the world than that.
It’s the Dark Dog 5L FASS can.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Dark Dog 5L FASS
As you can see in the image, this is, as far as I know, the world's largest energy drink that can be personally purchased. On the left, you see Japan's Red Bull 185ml, and on the right, the American Mega Monster 710ml. You can clearly see the size of the Dark Dog. It’s an incredible 5 liters ( ゚д゚)ハッ!
The word "FASS" in German means barrel. Originally, it refers to a beer barrel. In the world of beer, manufacturers have made cans shaped like these barrels and printed large brand designs on them.
The material is incredibly sturdy, almost like a steel can. FASS cans are commonly seen in beer, but this Dark Dog can, along with another European energy drink brand that likely released it as a limited edition, seems to be the only ones made in this style for energy drinks. I was finally able to get my hands on this rare Dark Dog. The other one is even rarer and almost impossible to find, but if I ever get a chance to obtain it, I’ll update this post ((o(´∀`)o)).
The shock I felt when I found this FASS can was immense. Dark Dog, being a brand that offers a wide variety of sizes, including PET bottles and cans, had such a strong brand image that it felt like it was natural for them to release a FASS can. If a FASS can were to come out, it would definitely be Dark Dog over Monster.
Of Course, I’m Not Drinking 5 Liters by Myself!
Now, on the back of the can, there’s the text "Party ENERGY." Naturally, I’m not drinking 5 liters by myself!w It’s definitely intended for large groups to enjoy. As mentioned on the left, it’s a Limited Edition, and it’s no longer available for sale. By the way, the caffeine content is the same as the original, 32mg per 100ml.
I’ll let you check out the details of the Dark Dog itself in my review, but for now, let’s focus on the can.
You might be wondering how you actually drink this. Well, there’s a beer-dispensing gimmick built into it. You pull the red tab at the bottom of the can, and a pipe pops out.
When you rotate the red tab 90 degrees, the spout opens, and you can pour out the drink.
The 5-liter size makes a huge impact, but the pouring gimmick, carrying over the FASS can style, is just fantastic for an energy drink (´∀`*).
Monster’s Mega size and other big American cans are well known as "big size" or "American size," but the world is still so wide, and there are still powerful energy drinks out there like Dark Dog.
