In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Energy Hunter (Best Price)
When you open the can, a strong sweet and sour, classic flavor aroma bursts out. When poured into a glass, the liquid is a rich yellow. At this point, you can already tell that the contents are different from the previous version of Energy Hunter.
Upon tasting, the slightly bitter, chemical flavor blends with a sweet and sour classic energy drink flavor. Both the taste and the aroma are rich.
Unlike the previous version with its refreshing fruity taste, this new version has been revamped into a more recognizable, classic energy drink flavor with a stronger chemical note.
There isn’t much aftertaste left, but the flavor and aroma linger quite long, providing a satisfying drinking experience.
Compared to major brands like Red Bull or Monster, this drink has a more intense flavor. If you prefer a bit more refreshment, adding ice would be a good option.
Energy Ingredients of Energy Hunter (Best Price)
It contains 195mg of caffeine and 600mg of arginine. With the relatively high caffeine content per can, be cautious of consuming too much caffeine from other sources such as coffee.
Let’s compare the ingredients between the old and new versions of Energy Hunter.
The caffeine and arginine content is the same, but it looks like the ginseng ingredient from the previous version has been removed. Additionally, the carbohydrate content has been reduced by 1.9g, resulting in a slight decrease in calories. There are also changes in colorants and other ingredients.
Design of Energy Hunter (Best Price)
The design uses a black base color combined with the same Topvalu red from the original Energy Hunter.
The eyes, reminiscent of VENOM ENERGY, feature a red lightning bolt that gives off a bit of a cringe-worthy vibe. The "ENERGY HUNTER" logo has been changed to a handwritten font.
Here’s how the old and new versions look side by side.
The new design is more intense in its cringe-worthy elements, and the black base gives the can a more typical energy drink feel compared to the previous version.
On the front of the can, the energy ingredients are listed in terms of the amount per 100ml, just like the old version.
I’ve always thought it would be helpful to list the total amount per can, considering the high caffeine content, but this hasn’t changed with the new version.
For this relaunch, Energy Hunter has been released under the Topvalu Best Price brand, and the cap now features the Best Price logo.
The black cap adds a "Black Top" feel, and the overall impression is darker compared to the old design.
The original Energy Hunter series had three flavors. Will the new Energy Hunter series introduce new flavors? Based on the design, I think the store display will stand out much more than the old one, so I’m excited to see what flavors are added next.
