In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of AMP ENERGY Dale Jr. Sour
As soon as I opened it, a fresh and gentle muscat grape aroma wafted out. When poured, it has a transparent light green color, resembling grape pulp.
The taste is like freshly squeezed grape juice with some carbonation added, and the level of flavor is quite high. The flavor is rich, yet the overall experience is very refreshing. The sweetness is moderate, and the grape flavor and sweetness do not linger in the aftertaste, which is a notable feature. This feeling matches perfectly with the temperature of 26°C during the day as I write this review.
The slight acidity lingers in the mouth, but at the same time, the aroma stays strong, which makes it feel quite natural, like eating grapes (*´艸`*). It's so delicious that it could almost be mistaken for having real juice in it. By the way, there is no actual juice in it! (laughs)
Energy Ingredients of AMP ENERGY Dale Jr. Sour
It contains 156mg of caffeine, 296mg of taurine, 248mg of guarana, and 34mg of ginseng.
AMP's attention to even the smallest numbers is quite interesting. It seems like there is a fair amount of guarana in it.
Design of AMP ENERGY Dale Jr. Sour
Personally, I like the current design of the AMP series more than the old one, and the color scheme of the Dale Jr. Sour is my favorite. The lime green combined with black is just beautiful (●´ω`●).
The logo and flavor name are simply and clearly placed, which makes it easy to recognize.
On the front of the can, there is a photo and signature of Dale Earnhardt Jr. I’m not very familiar with NASCAR, so I apologize, but I assume the car featured on the back is a Chevrolet from his NASCAR team.
In the NASCAR world, he is a very popular second-generation driver, so this limited edition would definitely be a hit with his fans.
It’s also great that the flavor is special. If they had just changed the design and reused the original AMP flavor, it wouldn’t have felt as motivated.
Although AMP seems to be a bit dormant in the U.S. lately and is not as lively, given how delicious this is, I really hope it gains more popularity. The original AMP flavor is incredibly good, so I hope it continues to thrive.
