AMP ENERGY ORGANIC CITRUS
This is a review of AMP ENERGY ORGANIC CITRUS, released as a limited edition in Seven-Eleven stores during the summer of 2017. Starting in 2018, it is expected to be available at all stores.
In the U.S., organic energy drinks have been increasing rapidly, and AMP has followed this trend by launching its own organic series.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of AMP ENERGY ORGANIC CITRUS
The liquid is slightly yellow, giving it the typical uncolored impression of an organic product. A subtle lime fragrance spreads gently.
When I take a sip, it’s a sweet, mild limeade with no sourness. There’s no sense of fruitiness or fresh lime flavor, making it a rather unremarkable lime flavor. It’s such a bland and artificial limeade that I honestly wasn’t sure what to write in the review Σ(´∀`;)
The taste lacks any substantial depth, with only a faint lime fragrance and sweetness, while the sourness and aroma are too subtle. I think they intentionally chose to make the flavor mild because it’s an organic product, but I don’t quite understand the point of releasing it under the AMP Energy brand.
That said, it’s not bad. Each sip lets me enjoy the sweetness of limeade, and I ended up finishing it quickly without even realizing it as it was so easy to drink.
For this flavor, I think they could have gone for a much milder taste like a flavored water, with just a refreshing lime fragrance to carry the product.
Energy Ingredients of AMP ENERGY ORGANIC CITRUS
It contains 120mg of caffeine but doesn’t have any particularly distinctive ingredients. The caffeine is organic, apparently. At 355ml, it’s a sufficient amount.
It’s USDA certified organic, with very simple ingredients: sugar, caffeine, citric acid, and flavoring.
Design of AMP ENERGY ORGANIC CITRUS
The can is lime green with pop illustrations of lime and lemon. The design is clean and I really like it.
However, if you're looking to enjoy the fresh lime flavor, this might not be quite what you expect (^_^;)
The AMP Energy Organic series launched with four flavors at once. It’s quite impressive that the U.S. managed to roll them out all at once, especially as organic products. Organic drinks, including energy drinks, have been on the rise in the U.S., and energy drink brands are following suit with organic offerings.
The tab is a black-ringed one, common across the entire AMP Energy Organic series. I personally like how the black tab gives the can a more polished look.
