All City NRG
This is a review of the All City ENERGY DRINK, released in 2008 from Arizona.

All City ENERGY DRINK is available in three different can designs for one flavor. Although it has been over 10 years since its production, the can design is excellent! It's one of the energy drinks I’ve always wanted to tr

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of All City ENERGY DRINK

The moment I opened it, a strong scent of deteriorated fruit juice filled the air. Fruit juice-based drinks tend to change into a sweet and sour apricot-like smell and taste after a few years of degradation. All City has the same scent.

All City NRG
The color is a murky reddish-brown, but I imagine it was a bit lighter when it was fresh. The current color is likely the result of further degradation, with the color darkening and the murkiness increasing.

Given the color and the strong apricot-like scent from the deteriorated juice, I hesitated to drink it. But let’s try it anyway…

When I cautiously took a sip, I tasted a fruity flavor like concentrated mashed apple, sweet and sour. It’s an uncarbonated fruit tea flavor with a strong bitterness and astringency from the tea. I believe the acidity and bitterness have become stronger due to the degradation. After more than 10 years, the bitterness and astringency are too strong, and the flavor balance is quite poor (ヽ´ω`).

The ingredients list 5% fruit juice, made from pomegranate and apple, but now I can’t even imagine what the fruity flavor was originally like…

How It Differs From Other Fruit Juice-Based Energy Drinks

Fruit juice-based energy drinks like Monster Energy undergo a change into an apricot-like scent and flavor after about 10 years, just like All City. This is where All City is similar, but the difference is that the fresh tea flavor and refreshing quality were still there. I didn’t expect to still feel the unique freshness of tea passing through my nose and throat even in a drink that was 10 years old (^_^;)

Perhaps the Monster Rehab series, which also contains fruit juice, will develop a similar scent and taste after 10 years. I think raspberry or rojo would change in this way. While I wouldn’t recommend leaving a drink unopened for no reason, it might be interesting to leave it for about five years and try it!

Energy Ingredients of All City

An amazing 300mg of caffeine! Other ingredients include 2000mg of taurine, 200mg of ginseng, 200mg of guarana, 200mg of glucuronolactone, and 70mg of milk thistle, among others. As an energy blend, it far surpasses other major brands. This is what makes old energy drinks so interesting (*´艸`*)

All City NRG
The 5% fruit juice is made up of pomegranate and apple. In addition to fruit juice, orange blossom honey (honey) seems to be added as an accent. I’m not sure if it’s the honey giving the drink its thickness or if it’s the result of degradation (ヽ´ω`), but since it’s so old, I wasn’t able to discern any particular characteristics in terms of flavor, mouthfeel, or texture. It's a shame (-_-;)

Design Quality Is Top-Class Globally

All City NRG
These designs, inspired by graffiti from New York (where AriZona Beverages is headquartered), incorporate All City and AriZona. Just by looking at the design, it was one of the energy drinks I always wanted to try, but I thought it would be impossible to get. When I was asked before in a question, Is there an energy drink you’d like to try?, this was one of the answers I gave. After 10 years of unavoidable degradation, I was finally able to drink it… (;´∀`)

This is one of the drinks I was able to get during a trip to San Francisco as part of The Energy Drink Journey. I never expected to get one in such good condition without leakage. I had actually been looking for it for about five years (●´ω`●)

Short-Lived All City

All City Energy Drink was released in three different designs for one flavor. While I think they could have released more varieties, I also think that people might have thought that if they wanted iced tea, they could just go for the affordable original AriZona iced tea. It's really unfortunate.

All City NRG
Recently, energy drinks similar to All City that are priced around $1 have been released, but now it seems like they’re only available as deadstock. When I went to the U.S. recently, I hardly saw them anymore. I hope new products will fill the gap. By the way, AriZona’s energy drink series seems to have secured a certain share of the market, so it doesn’t look like they’ll completely withdraw (u_u*)
