In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of AriZona ENERGY LOW CARB
When opened, it releases a refreshing orange aroma with a full fruitiness that feels just like the original, making it hard to believe it’s the low-carb version—it’s that rich!
Pouring it into a glass reveals a glowing orange color. It looks just like the original, but what about the taste?
Upon tasting, the flavors of orange, passion fruit, and mango spread lightly across the palate with a gentle sweetness. Given the lower sugar content, the sweetness is much lighter. Looking at the ingredients, the fruit juice content is 3%, and the sugar content is a remarkably low 6g.
Although the aroma and color set the mood, the flavor itself is quite mild. With almost no acidity, it tastes like a watered-down version of AriZona ENERGY, possibly even a subpar version. For those who are mindful of sugar, this might be a good option, but if asked whether it's worth paying $2 for, my answer would be no Σ(´∀`;)
Energy Ingredients of AriZona ENERGY LOW CARB
Contains 200mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 200mg of carnitine, 200mg of ginseng, 200mg of inositol, 200mg of guarana, 200mg of glucuronolactone, and 70mg of milk thistle.
With only 3% fruit juice, it contains small amounts of pear, apple, mango, and peach. Notably, orange juice was removed for the LOW CARB version.
Design of AriZona ENERGY LOW CARB
The can features a street-style design, with a clean white base color that contrasts with the black-and-white combination of the original. The light blue AZ logo clearly represents the LOW CARB concept, making it easy to identify. The design is impressive.
From the original green to the light blue of LOW CARB, the simple design allows for a wide range of flavors to be created. Unfortunately, AriZona Energy was only released in these two varieties.
The tab is light blue. It’s a classic energy drink style, and the color of the tab matches perfectly with the existing logo color. The overall color coordination is well done and consistent.
While the can design is excellent, the taste sticks closely to the AriZona style, making it hard to get excited about a repeat purchase. Unfortunately, the LOW CARB version, in particular, was a major letdown.
