bang CHAMPAGNE

Posted on March 19, 2019 | Last updated February 9, 2025

bang CHAMPAGNE
The Champagne flavor of bang Energy Drink originally contained an astonishing 375mg of caffeine, but with the packaging renewal, the caffeine content was lowered to 300mg, the same as the new products.

Since both the bang brand and product concept have changed since its release, I’d like to review it again with the updated ingredients.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of bang CHAMPAGNE

bang CHAMPAGNE
When you open the can and pour it into a glass, a soft sweet aroma spreads. It’s not an intense scent, but rather a fleeting one, only noticeable for a moment due to the carbonation. When drinking, the strong aroma from the glass isn’t noticeable, and it feels quite subtle.

However, once you take a sip, a sweet flavor spreads instantly. The refreshing sweetness and aroma of banana-like fruitiness, with a lingering sweetness that reminds you of the scent you first noticed when opening the can. Throughout the sip, there’s hardly any bitterness or unpleasant artificial sweetener taste. Fitness-oriented zero-calorie energy drinks like bang are truly impressive.

Overall, the taste is crisp, with no lingering aftertaste. The mild sweetness spreads along with the aroma, leaving you with a high level of satisfaction. However, this isn’t really like a typical champagne… It’s pretty much the same as the old packaging version of the champagne flavor. (^_^;)

At room temperature, the sweetness can feel quite strong, making it a bit tough to finish a 473ml can. It’s watery and not overly sweet, but with the aroma, it doesn’t quite feel like it pairs well with the sweetness all the way through. Σ(´∀`;)
I recommend drinking it with plenty of ice, gulping it down quickly. If you haven’t consumed caffeine from coffee, tea, or other energy drinks, 300mg should be fine. I also think it’s great for hydrating before a workout with a quick gulp of bang Champagne!

Energy Ingredients of bang CHAMPAGNE

bang CHAMPAGNE
Contains 300mg of caffeine, creatine, CoQ10, and BCAA. It does not contain taurine, which is commonly associated with international energy drinks. Although it might seem unusual for a top fitness energy drink brand, taurine-free energy drinks have become more common recently, and bang has never prioritized taurine since its release.

Creatine contributes to explosive power, and BCAA supports muscle synthesis and helps prevent breakdown. The exact amounts aren’t listed, but it’s likely much less than what would be found in a dedicated supplement.

Design of bang CHAMPAGNE

The design has shifted from the previous bullet-piercing design to a more pop and modern look.

Bang has been continuously expanding its flavor lineup, and I thought the champagne flavor would surely disappear. The taste was underwhelming, and with so many new, successful flavors emerging, there didn’t seem to be a reason to keep the champagne.

However, it’s still readily available in stores, and I suspect bang just wants to ensure they have a wide variety of flavors like other top-tier brands. I’m quietly keeping an eye on when champagne might be phased out. XD

By the way, the top flavors I think I won’t buy again in the bang Energy Drink series are this champagne and Sour Heads.

The black top with the orange tab is a traditional color scheme carried over from the old champagne cans.

In 2019, almost all products, including the champagne flavor, switched to a silver top. Personally, I prefer the black top as it gives a more refined impression. (●´ω`●)
