Flavor of bang PURPLE HAZE

When poured into a glass, a strong scent of grape gum and grape gummies fills the air. It's not a fruity aroma, but rather artificial and unhealthy.

The content is colorless and transparent, which is common across the Bang series. It's surprising how strong the scent is, considering the colorless appearance.

Upon tasting, the grape flavor doesn't hit as strongly as the scent might suggest. It feels like the artificial flavoring is intensified to elevate the grape flavor image. The sweetness is substantial due to artificial sweeteners, so it doesn't feel lacking, but there’s no tang or bitterness of real grapes. If you're expecting a natural fruit taste, this might not be what you're looking for.

The aftertaste and lingering scent have a strong artificial chemical note, giving a different impression from a typical carbonated grape juice. As you continue drinking, the chemical flavor becomes more noticeable than the grape flavor.

This is the initial version of Bang PURPLE HAZE, reviewed in 2019.

The can was black with purple accents, quite different from the current design, but the artificial grape flavor remains the same.

Compared to the chemical grape scent, the sweetness is flat, so it's best enjoyed with ice for a refreshing experience.

Energy Ingredients of bang PURPLE HAZE

Contains 300mg of caffeine, creatine, CoQ10, and with the recent reformulation, EAA. The original version of Bang PURPLE HAZE (before the white design) contained BCAA instead of EAA.

With Bang's rapid growth, fitness and body-building-focused energy drinks featuring high caffeine have flooded the market. The shift from BCAA to EAA, covering a broader range of amino acids, shows that Bang continues to lead in the fitness energy drink segment.

Design of bang PURPLE HAZE

The design features a clean white background with bright purple accents, giving it a liquid, dynamic feel. In 2021, all of Bang’s designs, including older releases, were fully updated to this type of design.

Here is the previous black design of Bang PURPLE HAZE. The old design was black-based, maintaining a hint of the intimidating, fierce Bang aesthetic.

The dark purple in the old design might have led you to expect a more intense grape flavor, but instead, it presents a somewhat anticlimactic artificial grape flavor.

Comparing the old and new designs, the new white version is cooler and more polished. The purple shade is lighter, and overall, the design has become more refined.

The 2021 full redesign has shifted Bang's image from a dangerous energy drink brand to a mainstream brand accepted by a wider audience. In fact, it continues to grow its market share in the U.S.

Personally, I prefer the new white design for Bang PURPLE HAZE, but I feel that the top and tab from the old design had more character.

The old design featured a black top with an orange ring tab, a signature Bang combination.

The initial version of Bang PURPLE HAZE had a black top with a colored tab. Over time, the top was changed to silver, and in 2021, both the design and ingredients were fully updated to the current white version.
