Upon opening the can, an intense coconut aroma bursts out. The scent is so strong that it feels more like a coconut juice than a piña colada. Now, let's take a sip.
The first impression upon tasting is the sweet aroma of coconut enveloping your palate. Initially, the flavor seems dominated by coconut, but as you drink more, a mildly sweet, slightly tangy, and refreshing pineapple flavor emerges, gradually revealing the true essence of piña colada.
By the time you've finished a glass, you're accustomed to the coconut aroma and fully immersed in the piña colada experience.
The aftertaste is a delightful blend of tropical pineapple and coconut, leaving a fresh and juicy sensation. It's truly enjoyable.
The strong coconut aroma at the beginning seems purposeful, as products like this often lose their intended balance, leaning heavily toward pineapple if the aroma isn't robust. This drink maintains its coconut fragrance throughout the 473 ml, ensuring the piña colada flavor stays consistent—quite impressive.
Unfortunately, this flavor was discontinued following Monster Energy's acquisition.
Energy Ingredients in bang WHOLE LOTTA PINA COLADA
This drink contains 300 mg of caffeine, EAA (essential amino acids), and CoQ10. The creatine, which caused issues during the legal disputes with Monster Energy, is no longer included.
Design of bang WHOLE LOTTA PINA COLADA
The bang logo is paired with colors reminiscent of piña colada, blending yellow and red. For the last bang series under VPX, the flavor name features a playful, vibrant font.
Personally, I feel the lack of consistency between the flavor font and the other fonts creates a somewhat disjointed impression. Additionally, the "0 Calories" label in the bottom right corner is rounded, suggesting an attempt to create a softer overall look.
Even the icons on the back are all rounded. Unlike the bold and refined designs of the past, this one seems to aim for a more approachable aesthetic.
As the last original design released before bang's acquisition by Monster Energy, this feels like a visual representation of the brand's identity beginning to waver.
After Monster Energy's acquisition, the design reverted to the one prior to this, discarding the playful style. Perhaps even their former rivals saw this design as lacking cohesion and direction.
