Attended the 2019 Atsugi Base Japan-U.S. Friendship Spring Festival
On April 27, 2019, I attended the Atsugi Base open event, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Spring Festival! Since it was the first day of Golden Week, I expected it to be crowded, but surprisingly, there weren't many people, making it a comfortable experience (●´ω`●).
Author: Energy Drink-kun
In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Shopping Booths Were Always Crowded
This time at Atsugi Base, there were no long lines outside, and I smoothly passed through the ID check. The bag inspection only took a few minutes. Was it because the weather wasn't great? Or maybe because it was cold?
As I walked further in, I was immediately met with a long line!! Σ(´∀`;)
This was a booth selling snacks, energy drinks, and more. The line stretched across the road and didn’t seem to let up the entire time.
I decided to check what energy drinks they had for sale...
They had bang! I think it was 300 yen per can? There were also Monster Energy drinks and others, but I didn’t feel like waiting in that line, so I just moved on (-_-;)
Early Lunch at Taco Bell!
Since I hadn't eaten breakfast, I headed to the food court at the back of the base.
When I visit the U.S., I usually don’t go to chain fast food places, but this time, I was in the mood for some budget-friendly Mexican food—Taco Bell! (*´艸`*)
It seemed like Taco Bell was the most popular choice when I arrived. The line was pretty long (^_^;)
Tacos—gone in no time! (๑´ڡ`๑)
Burrito—it was so empty inside that I didn’t even need a fork, and the size was quite small. But I managed to compensate by finishing and refilling my large drink Σ(´∀`;)
Left Early Due to Unstable Weather
The lawn had a nice, relaxing vibe, with people lounging around. The grass was soft and comfy—wish I had brought a picnic mat! It would have been perfect if the weather had been better.
I took a short break on the lawn.
Then I suddenly wondered about the energy drinks and went back to check...
The line was still going strong! (;´∀`)
By the time I got back after eating at Taco Bell, about an hour later, bang was already sold out. That was fast!
By midday, the food tents in the lawn area were also packed with people.
I was thinking of grabbing something else to eat, but it started drizzling, so I left without getting any energy drinks (u_u*)
In the end, it felt like I just came here for Taco Bell... I usually don’t bother buying energy drinks at U.S. bases when there’s a long line, so I missed out on the overseas energy drink experience this time. Oh well, I still had a good time in my own way! (^_^)v
