This is a review of BIG SHOCK ICE BLACK TEA PEACH, released in April 2024, from the first-ever black tea series in the BIG SHOCK lineup.

Strictly speaking, the BIG SHOCK ICE TEA series is a pure fruit tea line without any energy ingredients. However, since it is a new product from the historically long-running BIG SHOCK series, I will be reviewing it.

Three flavors from the BIG SHOCK series were released simultaneously, available in both 330ml cans and 1L household-size plastic bottles. I got my hands on it during my summer trip to the Czech Republic in 2024. I visited numerous stores, and while I saw many displays, the larger 1L bottles seemed to be more commonly available than the 330ml cans. I will share more about the situation on the ground at the end of the review.

Upon opening the can, a refreshing aroma of tea leaves combined with a hint of sweet and fresh peach fills the air. Let’s take a sip.

As I take a sip, the smooth and soft sweetness of peach fruit expands, followed by the aroma of the tea leaves fading away. The peach flavor is much stronger than I expected.

This is because the BIG SHOCK ICE TEA series is made with a generous amount of fruit juice and sugar. While I can enjoy the clear, refreshing juiciness that penetrates my body, it also offers a substantial richness that gives it a satisfying feel.

Many energy drink brand tea series are nearly sugar-free, but this one allows me to savor the smooth and mellow mouthfeel of sugar.

According to the BIG SHOCK official description, it says, “A velvety smooth tea harmony with juicy peach—this is the new BIG SHOCK!” and this perfectly matches the drinking experience.

The BIG SHOCK ICE TEA series does not contain any energy ingredients. While it is likely that some caffeine from the tea leaves is included, there is no specific mention of caffeine content as part of the ingredients.

This series contains 5% fruit juice, with 4.9% apple juice and 0.1% peach juice in this peach variant.

The design features a juicy peach color using orange and yellow tones, with a green series name to evoke the image of tea leaves.

The peach fruit silhouette makes the flavor easy to identify, and the label design clearly indicates the type of tea, which is a nice touch.

Situation of BIG SHOCK ICE TEA Series in the Czech Republic

I visited the Czech Republic a few months after the release of the BIG SHOCK ICE TEA series.

I thought the products would be well-stocked by then, but I was only able to find two out of the three flavors.

On the other hand, the 1L plastic bottles were available in many stores, and it seems that larger household-sized bottles are more easily marketed in supermarkets.

Interestingly, the price in supermarkets for the 330ml can was 25.9 CZK, while the 1L plastic bottle was 39.9 CZK. The price difference is minimal, yet the larger bottle offers three times the quantity, so I can see why the plastic bottles are selling better than the cans. Most stores didn’t have the 330ml cans in stock.

By comparison, the regular 500ml cans of the standard BIG SHOCK series are priced at 24.9 CZK, making the 330ml can of BIG SHOCK ICE TEA seem oddly expensive. Additionally, since it's not an energy drink, it tends to be placed in the tea section rather than the energy drink aisle.

In 2024, the raspberry flavor wasn’t available anywhere, so I’m hoping that the can version of the series doesn’t get discontinued before my next trip to the Czech Republic...
