BIG SHOCK Orange
The Orange flavor, one of the early releases in BIG SHOCK ENERGY’s juice flavor series. It seems to have been created during a time of trial and error, staying true to the original line and showcasing a distinctive BIG SHOCK flavor.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of BIG SHOCK Orange
The moment I opened it, I was hit by the refreshing scent of orange, accompanied by a chemical odor at the same time.
When I poured it into a glass, the chemical smell spread even further.
The taste is exactly that of a refreshing carbonated orange juice, but it lacks the unique sweetness and fruitiness of mandarin oranges. Instead, the strong artificial chemical flavor and the impact of citric acid make it a distinctly chemical-style orange flavor (;´∀`)
It’s said to contain 10% fruit juice, but there’s no trace of real orange, and it’s completely leaning towards a chemical profile, so it might as well have no fruit juice at all...
The aftertaste is surprisingly refreshing despite the strong chemical odor, with almost no residual taste, making it easy to drink. As one of the early products in the BIG SHOCK series, the flavor direction might have been experimental.
Energy Ingredients of BIG SHOCK Orange
It contains 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, and 10% fruit juice. There are no particularly special ingredients.
It’s a bit of a shame that the 10% fruit juice doesn’t really contribute to the taste. Although BIG SHOCK doesn’t have a clear series concept, this orange was apparently the first in the juice flavor series.
Design of BIG SHOCK Orange
The early designs of the BIG SHOCK series were simple yet easy to imagine, and personally, I quite liked them.
The design of this orange can is interesting, with a mirror ball and orange overlapping, and people cheering around the bottom of the can blending in seamlessly.
Currently, the unique design cans have ended, and now there’s just the same design with different colors for each flavor. It’s a shame, as it has lost its fun character (´・ω・`)
Yellow Euro tab. This has remained unchanged, both in the past and now.
