Released in September 2017 and re-released as a limited edition flavor in 2023, BIG SHOCK STAR SHOCK GALAXY.

It features a design inspired by Star Wars, and while the flavor name is not listed, it's unclear what the taste is. But based on the color of the liquid inside, what kind of flavor do you imagine? Let’s review it in detail.

Opening the can releases a grassy scent. It’s more like the smell of leaves rather than the usual melon-like scent, with a sweet and sour fragrance that also reminds me of the scent of Kashiwa mochi. What kind of taste could this be...?

When I take a sip, I’m hit with a sweet and sour refreshing taste, with a strong grassy aroma lingering. It’s a hard flavor to describe. Although the product doesn’t list a flavor name, BIG SHOCK officially calls it “Baobab & Lime” flavor.

The sweet and sour taste seems to be a lime-like flavor, and I can indeed taste it as lime when I think about it. However, the grassy flavor of baobab is much stronger than expected, and I haven’t been able to recognize it as lime until much later Σ(´∀｀；)

The lime flavor itself has no fruitiness and tastes more like lime candy sweetened with sugar. Personally, I think the grassy flavor of baobab could have been a bit more subtle.

It contains 160mg of caffeine and 2000mg of taurine.

While it doesn’t seem to affect the taste, it also contains lemon juice and baobab fruit extract.

The colors, font, and design all strongly evoke the feel of Star Wars. It’s unusual for BIG SHOCK to have a design where you can’t guess the flavor at all, and there’s a fun mystery to it until you drink it.

This method can dramatically change the impression of the product depending on whether the flavor suits your taste or not, making it difficult to decide when to use this approach. Personally, I felt the flavor went way beyond my expectations, and I don’t think I’ll be repeating it.

I also compared it with the original 2017 release of BIG SHOCK STAR SHOCK GALAXY. The left can is the 2017 version, and the right can is the 2023 version.

The silver top and yellow tab are reminiscent of the classic BIG SHOCK series, but by 2023, the black top and black tab give the can a more balanced overall look.

Also, the gold design element has changed. The 2017 version had a bright gold, while the 2023 version has a darker bronze gold. Other than that, the flavor and ingredients are unchanged.

When I went to the Czech Republic in 2023, I was surprised to find that it had been re-released.

Recently, BIG SHOCK has been re-releasing past limited edition products from 5 to 6 years ago. I also discovered the last stock of BIG SHOCK BRASIL that had been re-released. It’s interesting to think that the energy drink I missed out on years ago might show up again in the future.
