Blackout Zero

Posted on July 1, 2014 | Last updated February 21, 2025

Blackout Zero
This is a review of DDT's energy drink, Blackout Zero, which is available exclusively at Don Quijote.
Among domestic energy drinks, it offers a large volume and a high concentration of energy ingredients, making it highly cost-effective.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Zero Too Much Flavor

The taste feels like Blackout turned into a zero-calorie version. The sweetness is weak with a slightly sour, mild taste. Despite the mildness, the scent is very characteristic of a zero-calorie energy drink.

I’m not a fan of this overly "zero" flavor... I never expected it to taste so "zero"! (;´∀`)
It’s a challenge to finish the 500ml, to be honest. If I had to choose, I’d go for the original version (-_-;)

Energy Ingredients in Blackout Zero

Blackout Zero
The cost-performance is top-notch. With the larger volume, the energy ingredients are naturally higher.
It contains 175mg of caffeine and 600mg of arginine.

The Muscle Pose Has Changed!

Blackout Zero
What I personally love about Blackout more than the taste is the muscle character on the barcode.
The original version emphasized the biceps, but in the zero version, the pose is different, which was a nice surprise. It’s great when they keep the expectations! (laughs)
Simple and clear is the best in cases like this!

Blackout Zero
Also, the poem on the back is as absurd as always, and it doesn’t quite make sense. It’s like a mechanical translation that ends up sounding nonsensical.
