BOMBA! ENERGY BODZA
This is BODZA from the low-priced Hungarian energy drink brand, BOMBA!. It’s surprisingly delicious for just 70 yen! I’m always amazed by how occasionally a hit product comes out from these affordable energy drink brands.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of BOMBA! ENERGY BODZA
The moment I opened the can, the bitter grapefruit scent combined with a gentle floral aroma, and I was convinced this drink was going to be incredibly delicious.
When I took a sip, the bitter scent spread along with the sweet and sour, refreshing grapefruit flesh, and at the same time, a soft, subtle floral fragrance passed through.
The juicy and refreshing fruity flavor, like it contains actual fruit pulp, and the gentle floral aroma, not artificial, is just perfect. The flavor is complex, gradually changing from the taste in your mouth to the fragrance that lingers after you drink it.
As a combination, it’s a “sweet, floral, bitter grapefruit” flavor, which might sound strange, but for those who love complex flavors, this one is absolutely irresistible. I was super excited (*´艸`*)
Energy Ingredients in BOMBA! ENERGY BODZA
It contains 37.5mg of caffeine. As with the other BOMBA! series drinks, the caffeine amount is on the lower side. There are no other special energy ingredients.
Design of BOMBA! ENERGY BODZA
Unlike the flavor, the design has a rather busy color. I’m not sure why the design is like this. It’s hard to imagine this flavor from the can’s appearance.
BODZA is Hungarian for “elderflower.”
On the top of the can, it says “ELDERFLOWER.” I looked it up, and it turns out elderflowers are flowers that bloom in early summer in Europe and are commonly used in drinks.
This is what elderflower looks like.
Apparently, there are various recipes, but one typical way to make it is with elderflowers, sugar, lemon, and citric acid. When drinking, it’s recommended to mix it with sparkling water and add sliced lemon or mint.
This could indeed be the taste you’d expect from BOMBA! ENERGY BODZA.
Organic Cordial Elderflower 500ml
By the way, you can buy elderflower concentrate in Japan too. It costs about 1500 yen, and you dilute it about 10 times, so it’s not expensive at all. It could even be used as an accent in Rich Energy Drink.
Drinking energy drinks from around the world has been so much fun because I get to experience cultures and beverages I never would have encountered before (●´ω`●)
