In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

A Classic Sugar-Free Flavor with Only the Sweetness Removed

BOOST ENERGY SUGAR FREE ORIGINAL
When you take a sip, you experience a light and smooth texture with no sweetness and a slightly strong acidity, making it a classic sugar-free flavor. This is the typical sugar-free taste from the EU, with the sweetness removed.

It’s like the flavor of the regular BOOST Energy Original, but with only the sweetness taken out, leaving a refreshing acidity, smooth texture, and a peculiar medicinal aftertaste.

Since it tastes almost exactly the same as the original except for the sweetness, it could be interesting to compare the original and sugar-free versions if you ever get the chance.

Surprisingly, you don’t notice much of the artificial sweetener's aftertaste. Overall, it has a very refreshing impression. It might appeal to those who dislike the overly sweet and heavy taste of typical energy drinks. If the artificial sweetener doesn’t taste bad like it often does, the sugar-free version is definitely a viable option. EU sugar-free versions tend to be easier to drink as they don’t leave a strong artificial sweetener taste.

Energy Ingredients in BOOST ENERGY SUGAR FREE ORIGINAL

BOOST ENERGY SUGAR FREE ORIGINAL
Contains 75mg of caffeine and 1000mg of taurine. For a budget-friendly energy drink priced around 60 yen, this is more than enough.

Design of BOOST ENERGY SUGAR FREE ORIGINAL

BOOST ENERGY SUGAR FREE ORIGINAL
The design uses the same blue as the original BOOST, with more white to reflect the sugar-free nature. It's quite clear.

However, the design isn't exactly stylish, and the price label of 49P stands out a bit. Overall, it doesn’t really have the "energy drink" vibe. So, even if you travel to the UK, I think not many people would pick up a BOOST product just because it’s cheap. It’s almost like people wouldn’t want it even at a low price.

There have been a few redesigns, but the base design hasn’t changed much and has remained somewhat plain. It’s almost like they’re intentionally going for a less stylish look.

BOOST Energy has been a staple energy drink brand in the UK since it was launched in 2001. It’s surprising that it has survived this long with this design. And yet, it continues to offer a variety of flavors. It’s quite intriguing. (;´∀`)
