BOOSTER EXOTIC ABSOLUTE ZERO
BOOSTER, the low-cost energy drink brand from Germany, has released the zero-type product, BOOSTER EXOTIC ABSOLUTE ZERO. Strictly speaking, it’s not a complete “zero,” but it’s very close to being a zero-zero product.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of BOOSTER EXOTIC ABSOLUTE ZERO
The color is a bright and slightly cloudy orange. The scent is pure mango-flavored. With the almost zero-content energy drink formula, I'm curious about how well this low-priced drink can taste.
Upon sipping, the flavor is a refreshing blend of orange and mango, followed by a fruity aftertaste with a hint of passion fruit's acidity. It’s a tropical fruit flavor of mango and orange that doesn’t taste like a typical zero product.
Since it has almost no sugar, it feels light on the palate without any aftertaste or residue. The lingering acidity provides a fruity sensation that you wouldn't expect from a zero product.
I thought "Maybe it has some fruit juice in it?" and when I checked the ingredients, I found apple, orange, mango, and passion fruit. I suspected that aftertaste wouldn't come from a typical zero product...
While it lacks the texture of pulp, you can still taste the fruity acidity in the aftertaste. I feel that adding just a little fruit juice to adjust the taste, even at the cost of a bit more sugar and calories, wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Compared to the original Exotic, the bitterness and astringency are significantly reduced, making this EXOTIC ABSOLUTE ZERO a much more approachable flavor, free from any off-flavors from artificial sweeteners. It’s more universally drinkable and likely to appeal to a wider audience.
Energy Ingredients of BOOSTER EXOTIC ABSOLUTE ZERO
It contains 105.6mg of caffeine, 1320mg of taurine, and guarana. The calorie and sugar content are almost zero, essentially making it a zero-calorie product.
It also includes pear, apple, orange, mango, and passion fruit. With these ingredients in a zero product, it would be impossible to have zero sugar (though it’s only about 2g). However, with almost zero sugar and calories, the taste doesn’t feel like a zero product at all. This one made me feel that there’s no need to strictly stick to "zero" when the flavor doesn’t have to be sacrificed.
Design of BOOSTER EXOTIC ABSOLUTE ZERO
Even though it’s a zero product, it has a black base with orange concentric lines. It's similar to Red Bull's Total Zero, which is also black despite being a zero-calorie product. People who don’t know might not recognize it as a zero product.
Here’s a comparison with the original Exotic. The color scheme is unexpected for a zero-flavored product, isn't it?
The black top makes it look even heavier than it actually is.
The black top with an orange tab suits the can’s main color better than the usual blue tab from the Booster series.
