BOOSTER FIRE

Posted on April 30, 2020 | Last updated February 8, 2025

BOOSTER FIRE
BOOSTER FIRE, a limited edition released in 2017. It's supposed to be a cinnamon-style flavor, and I thought it would be one of those spicy-flavored drinks I don't like, but it turned out not to be the case. Definitely the most surprising energy drink of the year.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of BOOSTER FIRE

BOOSTER FIRE
At first glance, BOOSTER FIRE had me thinking it was a disappointment with its ginger ale-like color and the slightly ginger scent.

Upon tasting, I was surprised that it didn’t have the spicy flavor of the spices I expected, instead offering a "non-sweet" sweetness similar to cola gummies. It’s not exactly cola-flavored, more like cola gummy-flavored, and to be honest, it's a bit tough to keep drinking it (;´∀`).

The can mentions “Cinnamon Chili,” but there’s no cinnamon scent, nor any spice, so the flavor is quite different from my initial impression.

BOOSTER FIRE
I was expecting a spicy energy drink like the ones you find in Japan, but it ended up being a bit of a letdown. That said, it’s not exactly delicious, so it's kind of a middle-of-the-road product.

BOOSTER FIRE
There’s no lingering aftertaste, just a faint cola gummy flavor that sticks around. The aftertaste is quite similar to the Japanese Monster Energy Cuba Libre flavor. It’s probably better as a limited edition product.

Energy Ingredients of BOOSTER FIRE

BOOSTER FIRE
Contains 105.6mg of caffeine and 1320mg of taurine. I expected some kind of spicy ingredient, but it seems like there are no special ingredients added. Given its price of 70 yen, it’s about what you’d expect.

Design of BOOSTER FIRE

BOOSTER FIRE
The can has a rough texture overall, with only the dot pattern of the focus lines being smooth, almost like a reverse embossing. For a cheap energy drink brand, this level of detail is impressive. The “FIRE” part of the text is rough, matching the fiery theme.

BOOSTER FIRE
It was released alongside the BOOSTER ICE as a limited edition set. As a limited-time product, it’s interesting, but the taste... not so much.

BOOSTER FIRE
The silver top with a red tab creates a fiery image to match the can’s design. Overall, the can design is pretty good, but the contents were a bit disappointing.
