This is the Sonic Energy Drink from Boston America, a company known for character merchandise. I’ve had many of Boston America's energy drinks, and I assumed that they just change the packaging and keep the same flavor inside. However, when I opened the Sonic drink, it completely surprised me, from the moment I poured it to the taste! (*´艸｀*)

Deliciously Perfect Apple Flavor

Since the Mario flavor was a dud and probably a defective product, I opened the Sonic drink without any expectations! I was worried that the scent would be like the usual classic energy drink fragrance, but it turned out to be a sweet, fruity aroma! And it's the type I really like!ｗ

When poured into a glass, it shines in ocean blue! The color is vivid, almost like a blue that doesn’t exist in nature. I was hoping the liquid would be blue, but I never imagined it would be such a beautiful energy drink color (*´艸｀*).

With this color and sweet fruity aroma, I wondered what the taste would be, and when I took a sip, it was a sweet and refreshing green apple flavor. The high sugar sweetness of apple is nicely balanced with the refreshing acidity of green apple, giving a taste almost like drinking concentrated apple juice. This is surprisingly delicious (●´ω｀●)!

It’s very similar to the original V Energy Drink, but with a milder acidity and a smoother, fruitier sweetness that brings out the fruitiness even more.

This apple flavor is as good as Burn’s Refresh or Rockstar’s Hardcore Apple. If you enjoy those, you’ll find Sonic just as delicious.

Sonic's Energy Ingredients

It contains 120mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, 50mg of inositol, 25mg of guarana, and 25mg of ginseng in a Boston America blend. With solid energy ingredients, I’d say this character-based drink exceeds the usual level. Looking at this, Japan’s Red Bull 250ml size might be considered weak again (；´∀｀).

So, I thought this was a knockoff until I got my hands on it Σ(・∀・；). It has the "©SEGA" label on it, although it’s so small compared to Nintendo’s logos that I almost missed it.

Interestingly, it’s also featured on the Sonic 20th Anniversary site as an officially licensed Sonic drink. Apparently, even the Sonic team only has one can, and they haven’t tried the contents yet. That’s a shame – it’s definitely a drink you must try, it tastes that good.

This time, the flavor and the perfectly matched energy drink color really impressed me (●´ω｀●). If the can design and the color of the contents match this well, I hope they put some effort into the tab color too. A blue tab, like Monster Energy’s ABZero, would look great.

By the way, it seems that there are different variations of the Sonic drink, just like with Mario. I stumbled upon one with purple liquid and a slightly different packaging (as far as I know, there are 3 variations), which suggests different release periods. I believe this flavor is the best, so I hope the current batch doesn’t end up with a worse flavor than this one (；´∀｀).
