This is a review of the original energy drink from the low-cost brand BULLIT. This review is for the version released in Germany in 2023.

The BULLIT series undergoes significant design changes depending on the release year and country. It’s possible that the BULLIT ORIGINAL you have while reading this review has a different design. (I will update the review if I get my hands on a version with a changed design.)

When opened, a refreshing classic flavor aroma bursts out, easily recognizable. The color of the liquid is a bright gold. Let’s give it a try.

Upon tasting, it’s a light classic flavor with subtle sweetness and a refreshing tangy accent. It’s not overpowering in scent and is easy to drink, appealing to a wide audience with its classic flavor.

The drinkability is fantastic, with a light and crisp feel that makes you want to down a 330ml can in one go. Despite being a low-cost energy drink, it doesn’t taste cheap.

It’s a flavor and aroma that makes you want to repeat it, and I believe this is exactly what a low-cost energy drink should aim for, something I’ve confirmed after trying energy drinks around the world.

The key is to be a drink that many people can enjoy and want to have again, with a price point that makes it easily accessible. I feel that many European brands manage to achieve this without pushing their own brand identity too hard.

Unfortunately, in Japan, most supermarket PB energy drinks end up costing about the same per 100ml as major brands. If Japan could take some inspiration from European low-cost energy drink brands that are cheaper than Japan’s despite higher living costs, the low-cost energy drink scene in Japan might change for the better.

The 2023 BULLIT series released in Germany shares a common design using mirror-silver and two flavor colors. The original version uses blue and black.

In fact, the original color combination of blue, black, and yellow for the logo has been used in the BULLIT series for a long time. This past brand color has been carried over into the 2023 design released in Germany.

On the side of the can, there’s a hint of cheapness. But since it’s a low-cost energy drink, I’ll let it slide…

Here it is next to the sugar-free version. The original uses a deep blue, making the sugar-free version’s light blue stand out more clearly.

Additionally, the "Nutri-Score" on the lower left of the can shows that the full-sugar original has the lowest ranking of "E." This makes it clear how unhealthy it is, and those who want to avoid sugar can easily choose higher Nutri-Score options like the sugar-free version. Personally, I support this kind of labeling, as it makes individual choices easier.
