burn BLUE REFRESH
This is the review of burn BLUE REFRESH, commonly known as "Burn Blue," available in Europe.
The one I'm reviewing today is the Swedish version of burn BLUE REFRESH, which comes in a white can. However, in many countries, the burn BLUE REFRESH with a black can and blue flame is more common.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of burn BLUE REFRESH
When poured into a glass, it is clearly a lighter blue compared to the familiar Japanese burn Refresh Energy. The concentration is completely different.
When I taste it, the flavor is the same as the Japanese version, with a kiwi sourness and the rich flavor of apple, delivering a delicious taste! It’s a consistently delicious kiwi-apple flavor in the burn series.
Comparison Between Sweden and Japan
I wondered if there is a difference between the burn BLUE REFRESH from Japan and abroad, so I opened the burn Refresh Energy as well.
When comparing them side by side, it’s clear that the Japanese version is darker in color. Not only the color, but also the fragrance is more pronounced in apple, with a richer scent in the Japanese version.
When drinking the Japanese version, it's noticeably richer and more intense, with the apple flavor lingering and lasting. In contrast, the Swedish burn BLUE REFRESH is refreshing, light, and leaves a clean aftertaste.
Both versions have the same kiwi-apple base flavor, but the Swedish one feels refreshing, while the Japanese one feels richer. Personally, I prefer the more intense Japanese version.
Black & Blue Flame burn BLUE REFRESH
By the way, this black and blue design is the typical burn BLUE REFRESH design.
After 10 years, the color has changed, but the fresh kiwi-apple taste still remains.
Here’s a limited edition blue design from Russia.
The flavor is still kiwi-apple, but the product name is "REFRESHING CHARGE" rather than "BLUE REFRESH." As in Japan, the product name changes slightly depending on the country. This limited can size is unique at 330ml.
The back features an F1 LOTUS design. Released in 2014.
Energy Ingredients of burn BLUE REFRESH
Contains 80mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, and guarana. In Europe, the playful design of the flame drawn around the ingredient text is a fun touch for fans.
Design of burn BLUE REFRESH
Now, let's take a look at the design of the Swedish version of burn BLUE REFRESH that I reviewed earlier.
At the top of the can, you can clearly see the "Apple, Kiwi, Blue Agave flavor" label.
At this level, I think most people can tell what the flavor is without the label, but personally, I appreciate it when the flavor is listed because it helps me enjoy the drink without second guessing.
This Swedish version of burn BLUE REFRESH is a bit special, as the can has a white base. The use of blue in some areas gives it a clean, fresh feeling, which is different from the typical black energy drink image.
Here’s the tab. A slightly brighter blue would have matched better with the can color.
