BURN PASSION PUNCH
After BURN came under Monster Energy’s umbrella through Coca-Cola, they introduced this new staple flavor, Passion Punch. It has been gradually released in various countries, with slight name variations like Passion Punch and Tropical Punch depending on the region. This time, I’m reviewing the Swedish version, Passion Punch.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of BURN PASSION PUNCH
The color is a soft pink, just like flames. It has a gentle hue not seen in the old BURN series.
When I take a sip, a sugary sweetness spreads, along with a fruity flavor similar to the guava notes often found in energy drinks.
As for the passion fruit aspect... honestly, it’s pretty subtle. It tastes more like a sugary fruit mix, and as I drank it, I found myself thinking, "This is way too sweet..." A quick check on the back of the can confirmed my suspicion—355ml contains a whopping 50g of sugar. That’s over 10g more than the typical energy drink. This is definitely a drink where you need to be more cautious about sugar intake than caffeine. (^_^;)
By the way, this is the Russian version, "Tropical Punch." While the name is slightly different, the contents are the same.
And yeah, it’s still super sweet. With all that sugar, drinking a full 500ml alone would be tough. The best way to enjoy it is with plenty of ice to mellow out the sweetness.
Ingredients of BURN PASSION PUNCH
Contains 107mg of caffeine and 1420mg of taurine. It’s non-carbonated and packed with a hefty 50g of sugar. For a 355ml drink, that’s seriously overkill. (^_^;)
Design of BURN PASSION PUNCH
After BURN transitioned from Coca-Cola to Monster Energy, its design changed to a pillar of flames erupting from rock.
Each flavor features a different color flame. BURN PASSION PUNCH comes with a mysterious purple fire, giving off a somewhat eerie vibe.
It’s hard to deny that after BURN became a Monster Energy sub-brand, the designs became more simplistic. The only difference between flavors is the flame color, which makes the lineup feel a bit generic. It’s disappointing to see the loss of distinct, creative designs for each flavor.
This isn’t just an issue with BURN—every former Coca-Cola energy drink brand seems to have suffered from lackluster design updates or outright neglect. Just look at BURN, MOTHER, and FULL THROTTLE... (ヽ´ω`)
