Released on April 30, 2021, GODZILLA ENERGY is an energy drink featuring the iconic Godzilla brand. Amid the ongoing energy drink boom, even a Godzilla-themed energy drink has arrived.

GODZILLA ENERGY was launched in conjunction with the Hollywood release of "Godzilla vs. Kong," packed with 210mg of caffeine in a large 500ml can, making it a highly potent collaboration energy drink.

Rich and Gentle Sweetness Characterizes this Classic Flavor

Opening the can, a faint chemical scent blends with the familiar aroma of a classic flavor.

The color is a deep purple, matching the can design. Although it may appear to change in the photo, this is the actual color. The distinctive feature of GODZILLA ENERGY is how the color shifts from pink to purple, creating a gradient effect in different lighting.

Upon tasting, the flavor contrasts the chemical color impression. A gentle sweetness and acidity spread, creating a classic flavor profile. It’s more ordinary than expected (^_^;)

The chemical aroma is surprisingly mild, lingering just enough to add a subtle touch of flavor that makes it easy to drink. It might be surprising that the powerful combination of "Godzilla + energy drink + this color" results in such a gentle taste.

Both the flavor and scent are not punchy, and the drink lacks a boldness that would evoke the strength of Godzilla.

When ice is added, the sweetness is subdued, and the refreshing taste increases with a stronger chemical flavor. This is good in its own way, but personally, I prefer it not too cold, just at fridge temperature, to maintain the sweetness.

The recommended daily caffeine intake is 400mg, so drinking two cans of GODZILLA ENERGY would slightly exceed this. It’s safest to stick with just one can.

Design of GODZILLA ENERGY

From the front, it appears to be a typical collaboration product with Godzilla plastered large and in your face. The design is not particularly cool or intricate, with Godzilla placed in an overwhelming fashion, creating a slightly cheap vibe—whether this was intentional or not, who knows!? Σ(´∀｀；)

Turning the can slightly reveals a barcode that’s been tilted and destroyed by Godzilla’s beam, along with other information areas that are similarly slanted and torn. These small touches show attention to detail.

Personally, I find that the matching of the can color and the contents is more appealing than the design itself. The gradient color of the drink complements the Godzilla-themed can beautifully.

The can features the glowing pink "GODZILLA ENERGY" and Godzilla emerging in purple. The gradient of pink and purple matches my expectation of what the drink would look like perfectly. It’s pretty cool.

With its intense colors and high caffeine content, GODZILLA ENERGY feels like a fitting product. The top-level caffeine content in Japan’s 500ml cans aligns well with its theme. The only downside is that it’s not available everywhere.
