Opening the can, I can immediately smell the sharp and slightly spicy ginger scent, mixed with a mild traditional fragrance. It reminds me of the Raijin series, which still includes ginger in Japan. The color is a bright champagne, which is much more visually appealing than I had expected.

First, I try it cold. When I sip it, I feel the sharp ginger tingle, accompanied by a smooth, light, fruity traditional flavor.

There is a slight chemical taste in the fragrance, and the ginger's spiciness is quite noticeable. Personally, I’m sensitive to spiciness and strong flavors, but generally, it might not feel overly spicy to others.

Since HOT ENERGY DAN is designed for hot consumption, let’s try it warm. It’s finally time to use the "Drin-kun" mug for my review!

When heated, the flavor changes quite a bit. The chemical smell is still there, but the taste improves significantly. The rich, hot lemon-like sweetness and acidity become more pronounced, and the ginger provides a nice accent. The smooth texture that I noticed when it was cold becomes even more pronounced when it’s warm, making it much more enjoyable to drink.

Indeed, the fact that it's labeled as "hot only" makes sense now. Initially, I thought it was just for branding, but drinking it cold doesn’t allow you to enjoy the full experience of HOT ENERGY 暖 DAN. I would recommend buying it from a vending machine and drinking it right there.

The only downside is the distinct chemical smell. Despite the flavor becoming richer when heated, the chemical odor makes you less inclined to drink it. At ¥100, though, it’s a fun drink to try in the cold winter months.

Energy Ingredients of HOTENERGY DAN

It contains 71.5mg of caffeine and 357.5mg of arginine. These are fairly standard amounts, and considering the price of ¥100, it’s a decent offering. It also includes ginger extract and herbal extracts for flavor.

Design of HOTENERGY DAN

The overall color scheme and the rich, dark brown-black tones are pretty nice, but it doesn’t really have the sleek look of a typical energy drink. However, it's immediately recognizable as a hot energy drink. It definitely gives off a warming vibe.

The design feels more like something that’s meant to be a fun, novelty item. It conveys the idea that it’s more about the experience of a hot, energy drink than focusing on flavors or ingredients.

Sold in vending machines primarily in the western part of Japan, in the hot drink section, it’s available for ¥100. It's especially appealing on cold nights when you need something to warm you up.

At 250ml and priced at ¥100, it’s an affordable option. The price and the novelty factor make it a fun drink to grab and try out.

自販機で買って放置したやつを飲んだとき微妙だったけど、レビューを読んで自販機で買ってすぐ飲んだら美味しかった。でもエナジードリンクは冷たいのがいいわ。ホットはなんかちがう。
