In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Lifeguard Infinity
Upon opening, it has a vitamin-like scent with a slight chemical note—just like Lifeguard X. The color is an easy-to-recognize neon yellow.
The taste matches the aroma: a sweet, vitamin-infused, slightly artificial energy drink flavor. It combines a kid-friendly sweetness with an almost "unhealthy" energy drink feel, staying true to the classic Lifeguard profile.
But here's the thing—it tastes almost identical to Lifeguard X. So, what’s the difference? Let’s compare them.
When poured into a glass, both smell and look the same. If shuffled, it would be difficult to tell which is which.
Drinking them side by side, the differences are barely noticeable at first. However, Lifeguard Infinity has a richer, more pronounced sweetness with a noticeable chemical undertone, while Lifeguard X is slightly less sweet with a mild tartness. The difference in sweetness is quite clear.
However, if you drink them alternately, their similar base flavor makes it difficult to distinguish their nuances.
Energy Ingredients of Lifeguard Infinity
Contains 80mg of caffeine, 800mg of arginine, 800mg of maca, honey, and royal jelly.
Both Lifeguard Infinity and Lifeguard X have similar energy ingredient compositions, but their ingredient ratios vary.
Lifeguard X has a noticeably higher maca content, while Lifeguard Infinity features a more balanced ingredient distribution, making it feel like a more traditional energy drink.
Design of Lifeguard Infinity
Lifeguard Infinity was initially released in 2016 as a limited-edition Cheerio 30th-anniversary product containing taurine. Later, it was reformulated without taurine and re-released in this 250ml can.
The gold can reflects the drink’s vibrant color, featuring the Lifeguard logo alongside a mysterious infinity symbol, enhancing its energy drink aesthetic.
When placed next to Lifeguard X, released in 2014, they look like sibling products.
In Tokyo, you can find Lifeguard Infinity in vending machines at "Lifeguard Square" in Harajuku. However, in its main sales region, western Japan, it’s stocked in Cheerio vending machines scattered throughout the cities.

It’s always fun to stumble upon them while exploring. This is what we call "the hunt." If you’re traveling, be sure to keep an eye out for Cheerio vending machines.
