The new apricot-elderflower flavor from clever’s energy drink series, a private brand of the Austrian supermarket chain "BILLA," was released in July 2023. I bought it in Austria during the summer of 2024.

Flavor of clever ENERGY DRINK MARILLE HOLLER
Upon opening, a sweet and sour apple-like fragrance is released, with a faint floral sweetness weaving through, creating a complex aroma.
Taking a sip, the soft and refreshing sweet-sour apricot flavor spreads across the palate, with a floral note lingering in the aftertaste. The floral flavor feels slightly like an off-taste, and it's hard to pinpoint what exactly it's meant to represent...
When I translated the flavor name, I realized it was apricot and elderflower, and I understood it was indeed elderflower. Elderflower is a common flavor used in European energy drinks.
Other brands' elderflower flavors are often more refreshing, but clever's takes a much calmer, herbal, and more mature approach. The elderflower helps soften the strong sweet-sour apricot flavor, making it more mellow and balanced.
This makes it less suitable for those who seek a bold energy drink but perfect for those who enjoy a subtle, fruity taste without too much punch. It also seems like it would be very popular among women.

Contains 80mg of caffeine, 75mg of taurine, 50mg of inositol, and 25mg of glucuronolactone.
Design of clever ENERGY DRINK MARILLE HOLLER
The design features an apricot-inspired orange main color paired with a sleek mirror silver finish, resulting in a somewhat tacky design typical of supermarket private brand energy drinks. I personally preferred the previous simpler design.
Supermarket private label products generally have simpler designs, but energy drinks tend to fall into the trap of tacky designs. This new clever ENERGY DRINK series follows that trend. While it's possible to enjoy this "tacky" design as a bit of a joke, I'd personally prefer if clever's other products had a design more in line with their usual simple and clean look.
