The Reason Why Energy Drink Mania Reviews 15 Drinks a Week, 60 Drinks a Month

Posted on March 8, 2021 | Last updated February 16, 2025

The reason Dorin-kun has been reviewing energy drinks at a high pace recently is simple: there are several hundred bottles of energy drinks waiting to be reviewed, and they’re in the way.

Besides the reviews waiting to be written, there are around 5000 bottles in my collection, so just thinking about how many more energy drinks I have to review makes it hard to imagine how many I actually have in my house. By the way, there are about 200 more domestic energy drinks that I’ve bought in bulk for regular consumption, separate from these (Σ(´∀`;)).

Among the reviews waiting to be written, North American ones tend to leak quite often. Usually, within 1–2 years of manufacturing, they start leaking. I’ve had many terrible experiences with this, so I drink them before they leak. This is important.

Another thing I’ve been thinking about lately is: “What will I do if I still have several hundred bottles of review stock left when I get tired of energy drinks?” I want to consume as many as possible and update the site before I lose interest. Alternatively, I’d like to leave some stock review articles ready to update. This is one of the reasons I’ve been pushing myself to go through them so much recently. (Currently, I have a draft that’s on hold, and I’m getting close to 1000 bottles.)

In order to achieve that, a pace of one bottle per day wouldn’t be enough to finish by the end of the year. So my goal is to review 15 bottles a week—one per day, and five on weekends.

This hobby is something I’ve taken to the extreme, but eventually, it will come to an end. I’m reviewing as hard as I can to reach that point. That’s the feeling I have.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
