The story of walking around for a Graffiti Holic drink comparison and the musings I didn’t include in the review.
Yesterday, I reviewed the ZONe Graffiti Holic, and the flavor reminded me a lot of ZONe Utopia, so I went out to buy Utopia for a comparison.
Despite visiting over 10 convenience stores and supermarkets, I couldn't find it anywhere. Some stores, like 7-Eleven, didn't even carry ZONe at all. I was surprised at how hard it was to find…
While ZONe consistently releases new flavors, there aren't many stores near me that stock a wide variety of them. The Original is usually available, and I often spot the newer releases like ZONe Infinity Gate and ZONe Unlimited ZERO.
Though the area has an extraordinary number of convenience stores, ZONe’s presence is limited. It’s clear that Monster Energy dominates the shelves, though I’m not necessarily promoting them. On the other hand, Red Bull seems to have a quieter presence with only the original and a few limited-edition flavors, and its small size makes it even less noticeable. With a richer variety of flavors, Red Bull could establish more of a presence even in the 250ml size, but it may already be tough in Japan.
However, in Europe, even the 250ml size of Red Bull stands out significantly. Europe is a completely different world compared to America. You can get a sense of this by checking out the Energy Drink Journey in Vienna.
Back to Graffiti Holic…
After over an hour of walking, I finally found Utopia at a store that still had a lot of "Alice in Borderland" collaboration cans in stock. This store hadn't moved any ZONe products for several months Σ(´∀`;)
Recently, even though it was late October, the temperature during the day has been rising, and I had to walk for over an hour, which was tiring... But I'm glad I was able to do the comparison.
Both drinks taste almost identical, but when compared, Graffiti Holic is significantly better. I’ll probably finish Utopia and switch to Graffiti Holic.
Graffiti Holic has a surprising amount of potential, as it seems like they could keep introducing new products regularly by collaborating with new artists for "collaboration package designs!"
The four designs released for Graffiti Holic aren’t directly printed on the cans but wrapped around them, which keeps costs down and allows for multiple variations of wrapped products. The high-quality print and heat seal technology are so advanced that the difference between this and direct printing on cans is almost negligible.
Considering that shelf space is limited, rotating Graffiti Holic’s tropical evolution flavors as new designs could be a great idea.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
