I have decided to separate the "relaxed" beverage reviews into a standalone section

Posted on October 11, 2022 | Last updated February 16, 2025

The review article for "Fanta Mystery Blue" that I wrote recently has been surprisingly well-received, so I thought I’d continue reviewing interesting drinks that catch my eye in a relaxed manner. Instead of doing this on my usual blog, I decided to make a separate section for "relaxed" beverage reviews. The articles have already been moved, and the redirects are set, so you will be automatically redirected.

I realized there’s actually a demand for reviews of regular drinks, not just energy drinks. It’s motivating to see so many people checking them out even though I’m just casually writing them.

This content is generally about casually starting to drink, snapping some casual photos, and writing reviews in a laid-back manner—nothing too fancy.

The main page of this content is here.

By the way, the reason I include drinks other than energy drinks is that, well, both energy drinks and these quirky beverages are similar types of novelty drinks. Just like how I end up searching for new energy drinks, I find myself searching for other novelty drinks as well. The same curiosity is at work, and my goal is to introduce people searching for these novelty drinks to the world of energy drinks. I would be thrilled if people share this on social media too!

Though the number of energy drinks in Japan has been increasing, I believe that most people only try a new product once and then move on. The novelty tends to expire within about a week after release.

Also, the drinks I cover aren’t just limited to Japan—they’re energy drinks from around the world. Even after reviewing 1,000 drinks, most of them are relatively unknown, with more than half being ones that no one has heard of. In fact, many of them are entirely unknown to most Japanese people. (Personally, I enjoy seeking out these uncharted energy drinks.)

So, I think this approach is effective in expanding the audience for the niche world of energy drinks.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
