effect energy VOLTAGE

effect energy VOLTAGE
The "effect" energy drink brand, a long-established German brand, has launched the new "Voltage" series with four flavors at once.

Looking at the can color, you might think it's a guava flavor, right? But that's not it. What do you think the taste would be when you see the color of the liquid inside!?

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Refreshing Citrus Fruit Mix Flavor with Plenty of Juicy Fruitiness

Upon opening, a bitter grapefruit-like scent wafts up. It was a surprising aroma, unlike what you'd expect from the can color.

When poured into a glass, a cloudy glowing yellow liquid appears. The citrus aroma, especially the fresh scent of orange, spreads further from the glass. This must be an exceptional fruit flavor, no doubt about it!

When you take a sip, the juicy and savory flavor of biting into orange pulp hits first, followed by the bitter and refreshing grapefruit chasing it.

The sweetness of the fruit, the refreshing sourness and bitterness, and the faint scent of orange peel create a complex, delightful flavor. This is the best orange-flavored drink. When I found out it only contains 5% juice, with 3% lemon and 2% orange, I was amazed at how they managed to replicate such a complex and savory taste.

The flavor base is close to that of Monster Energy Rossi, and in terms of fruitiness, Japan's Awawise falls into a similar category. While there's a difference between yuzu and orange, both drinks effectively capture the essence of the fruit and offer an incredibly high-level juice-like energy drink experience. Those who enjoy the Awawise flavor will be amazed by how delicious effect VOLTAGE is—it's on a whole new level.

effect energy VOLTAGE Energy Components

effect energy VOLTAGE
Contains 160mg caffeine, 2000mg taurine, 400mg ginseng, 50mg guarana, glucuronolactone, and carnitine.

With 5% juice, 3% lemon, and 2% orange, the balance is just right. It's honestly amazing how much fruitiness they manage to create with such a small amount of juice.

effect energy VOLTAGE Design

The matte purple design features a wavy pattern, reminiscent of carbonated bubbles rising. It's hard to imagine that such an incredible citrus flavor comes from this design.

While the can design often builds a mysterious sense of anticipation, I personally often find myself excited, imagining how delicious the flavor will be the moment I pick up the product. And effect VOLTAGE definitely exceeds those expectations. Although, I do wish the design better reflected the citrus fruit theme, it would have been even more fitting.
