In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Acai Charge
This drink contains 30% acai juice, along with peach, orange, banana, and grape. While the acai is prominently featured, according to the ingredient list, acai comes after the fruits, glucose-based ingredients, and fermented muscat juice (;´∀`).
The carbonation has a strong initial kick. It’s a pleasant sensation. However, what follows is a fruit flavor that lacks punch, leaving a bit of a letdown. It ends up tasting like a fruit soda. While it’s refreshing and tasty, it feels more like a regular acai-flavored juice than anything else (´・ω・`).
Oh, and I won’t be complaining about “Why is the caffeine so low!” or anything like that, haha.
Want a Stronger Energy Boost
Surprisingly, the fruit flavors are quite nice. It could easily pass as a regular juice. But this is an energy drink, so I think it would have been much more interesting if it had been made with 100% fruit juice and packed with caffeine, BCAA, and arginine. That would have created a very cool health-focused energy drink.
And it would’ve accidentally taken on vegetable juice as its rival (*´∀`*).
By the way, opening Acai Charge was very easy. The pull tab was solid and easy to grab. Unlike Monster, where you feel like you might tear it apart.
