SoftBank Hawks Atsuo Energy

Posted on February 20, 2016 | Last updated February 13, 2025

SoftBank Hawks Atsuo Energy
The SoftBank Hawks have now joined the ranks of professional baseball-themed energy drinks. Initially, I didn’t see it around Tokyo, but after a while, it started appearing in places like Akihabara. Here’s my review of Atsuo Energy, albeit a bit late.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

SoftBank Hawks Energy Drink - Atsuo Energy Flavor

When you open the can, you get the classic energy drink scent, similar to Red Bull. It’s not the rich, sweet aroma like Monster Energy.

SoftBank Hawks Atsuo Energy
Upon tasting, it’s exactly what you'd expect from a classic flavor, with nothing particularly special to mention. It doesn’t try to stand out with any excessive flavors or unusual tastes, offering a stable, pleasant experience. It’s not too sweet or sour, with no overpowering scents, and while it leaves a slight aftertaste, both the scent and flavor dissipate quickly, leaving no unpleasant aftertaste.

It’s quite well done, and on par with Seiyu's "Minasama no Osumitsuki Energy Drink".

I think the most important thing is to first ensure this stable and pleasant flavor, rather than trying to create a unique taste, or adding perfume-like scents or focusing too much on ingredients.

At a regular price of 100 yen, if it were available more widely, it could become a drink many people would enjoy. (*´ェ`*)

Atsuo Energy's Energy Ingredients

With 80mg of caffeine and 120mg of arginine, it has the typical energy drink ingredients. There’s nothing particularly standout in terms of ingredients, though. It would be nice if they mentioned the caffeine content.

Atsuo Energy's Design

I’m not sure about the kanji for "Atsuo," but the colors are definitely reminiscent of SoftBank Hawks, which is nice. It also features the SoftBank Hawks approval mark.

Rather than feeling like an energy drink, it seems more like a fan support item, so I don’t have much to say about the design. However, I always wonder if it really makes sense to release this as part of the energy drink category.
