In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Attack on Titan Energy Drink
The vibrant orange and caramel color, reminiscent of thick melon juice, spreads with a sweet aroma as you open the can. Let's give it a try.
The flavor has a burnt caramel sweetness, and as you drink, a faint spicy aroma of ginger and chili lingers in your nose. It's a sweet and spicy taste...
The spicy aroma comes from the ginger extract, chicken extract, and chili extract. It seems they wanted to create a more energy drink-like feel...
For some reason, Japanese energy drinks often include spicy ingredients like ginger, which tends to result in a drink that doesn't taste very good. What a shame...
There's no doubt that the flavor of the Attack on Titan Energy Drink will divide opinions. (ヽ´ω`)Energy Ingredients of Attack on Titan Energy Drink
The truth is, the contents of this drink are actually from an existing product released by Ito En...
The can’s label reads "Powerful Amino Acids 5000mg." This seems to refer to the "POWERFUL Amino Acids 5000mg" beverage released by Ito En.
The composition, quantity, and labeling of the Attack on Titan Energy Drink are exactly the same as the POWERFUL Amino Acids product. They just printed the Attack on Titan design on the packaging...
This is not an energy drink created with a recipe inspired by Attack on Titan, but rather a collaboration product where the existing "POWERFUL Amino Acids 5000mg" was simply given an Attack on Titan makeover.
Energy Ingredients of Attack on Titan Energy Drink
The 5000mg of amino acids in the Attack on Titan Energy Drink break down as follows: 500mg of BCAA, 3690mg of alanine, 500mg of allicin, 300mg of arginine, and 10mg of glutamic acid. Looking at the breakdown, alanine is the most prevalent.
To get into more detail, alanine consists of α-alanine and β-alanine, and in most cases, when people refer to alanine, they mean α-alanine. It’s likely that the alanine in this drink is α-alanine, although we can’t be entirely sure.
However, it’s β-alanine that supports sustained power during physical activity. In recent years, the importance of β-alanine has been emphasized in bodybuilding and fitness communities, and it has become one of the most important supplements. It has also been shown that combining β-alanine with creatine enhances the effectiveness of creatine, making it indispensable for those who engage in intense sports or weight training.
As for α-alanine, it is primarily known for its hangover-curing properties. I wonder which one is included here.
Given the very small amounts of BCAA and arginine, it’s unlikely that they have any noticeable effect. If it had 5g of BCAA with a well-balanced mix of valine, leucine, and isoleucine, that would have been impressive. This kind of formulation is something American brands like VPX are particularly good at.
Both the taste and the ingredients leave a bit of confusion, and to be honest, if the Attack on Titan Energy Drink didn’t come in six different varieties, I probably wouldn’t have bought six cans. (^_^;)
