In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Strong Sour and Refreshing Flavor

The Caerus can is a fluorescent green, and the liquid inside is quite close in color. The can has a nice feel with the fluorescent green and black combination.

Caerus Energy Drink
The scent is similar to a typical vitamin drink with a fruity aroma. The taste has a strong sourness like apple or white grape, blended with the richness and fragrance of a vitamin drink, giving it a slightly different twist compared to the usual flavors. The aftertaste lingers with some sourness and a slight residue, leaving behind the scent of grape as well.

It seems to use concentrated apple juice, but there were no details about the exact amount used. The flavor is a mix of fruit and vitamin drink, so it might come across as "just another similar one" to some people.

Energy Ingredients of Caerus

It contains 65mg of caffeine, 22mg of ginsenosides, and guarana, among other ingredients. There are also low-calorie sugars and artificial sweeteners, though they don't seem to be there just for keeping the calories low. The calorie and sugar content is fairly typical for a juice. These ingredients seem to be included with the intention of adjusting the flavor and preventing rapid spikes in blood sugar, leading to a slow and steady absorption.

Experiencing Kairos Time?

Caerus Energy Drink
There's an interesting product description. It suggests experiencing Kairos time, which is different from the 24-hour Chronos time, by drinking Caerus and seizing the moment as the gods intended. However, with this packaging design, it might seem a bit odd, and one might even wonder if it's suggesting some kind of trip-like effect! (^_^;)

The idea behind the name "Kairos" and the reference to Chronos seems to come from Greek mythology. The concept is that Kairos, the god of opportunity, gives you the chance to seize the moment.

The product is designed to provide steady energy rather than a rapid spike in blood sugar. The front of the packaging says "Endurance Energy," which is clear and easy to understand, though I feel the design might look better without it. Using bold text that emphasizes the energy drink's effects might make the design feel a bit overwhelming.

While endurance and Kairos time are a bit different concepts, a more subtle approach could work better. For example, incorporating a subtle, elegant design of a clock, running figures, or the sun and moon could convey the idea of endurance energy better—something like 5-hour energy. It could be a little too much though!

Caerus Energy Drink
A print of the bent clock on the tab would have added a nice touch.
