Calpis has released an energy drink as well. The energy drink boom seems to be bringing about all sorts of products. The drink has a yellowish, cloudy color, which makes me feel a bit conflicted, possibly reflecting the classic energy drink color scheme.

Not White, Surprising

When I first saw Calpis Soda Energy Drink, I expected it to be white, but instead, it came out as a yellow and white mixture, resulting in a cloudy liquid. My honest reaction was, "Calpis isn’t white?" I think they probably tried to mix the classic energy drink yellow with the cloudy white of Calpis to create this look.

The aroma has a sweet Calpis scent mixed with an energy drink-like fragrance.

Flavor of Calpis Soda ENERGY EX

The taste is exactly as you’d expect from the appearance, like a vitamin drink mixed with Calpis Soda. It’s a flavor that will definitely divide opinions. It’s not horrendous or "Unpalatable," but it’s not particularly tasty either, making it hard to describe. I personally don’t see myself reaching for a second can.

I think it would have been better if they stuck with the pure Calpis flavor.

Considering the typical energy drink flavor, they probably couldn’t just release plain Calpis, and consumers might not have accepted it if they didn’t feel the energy drink essence.

The key energy ingredients are arginine, BCAAs, and vitamin B complex. There is no caffeine.

Each can contains 325mg of arginine, which is a solid amount compared to other energy drinks.

The BCAAs—valine, leucine, and isoleucine—are included in the ratio of 10mg:15mg:12.5mg.
