Suntory’s coffee brand, Boss, has released its first energy drink: Iron Boss, featuring solid energy.

According to Suntory, this energy drink is not aimed at the typical younger generation of teens and twenties who are usually the core market for energy drinks, but instead designed for the 30-40 age group who are working hard in a stressful society.

This is the first time I've seen such a fluorescent yellow in a while. It has a chemical scent, similar to the classic energy drink smell.

When you take a sip, the sweetness and bitterness mix, with a medicinal taste wrapping them up, giving it a classic energy drink flavor.

Compared to traditional Japanese energy drinks, the flavor and aroma are softer and not overly intense. However, with weak carbonation, it gives the sensation of drinking a typical energy drink.

For those who don’t drink energy drinks often or usually consume nutritional drinks and want to try energy drinks, the flavor is easy to understand. However, some may feel that they don’t really need to drink an energy drink with this kind of nutritional drink flavor (；´∀｀).

On social media, there were many people saying, “I thought I was buying a can of coffee, but I ended up drinking an energy drink by mistake.” Given the BOSS brand, it might have been better to add energy ingredients and GABA to a delicious coffee, creating a high-caffeine coffee energy drink for office workers.

Incidentally, Suntory has been releasing several energy drinks over the years. Examples include Kickstart Grape, STING GOLD, and PEAKER Energy Drink, but all of them seem to have been short-lived.
