Ojou-sama Seisui

Posted on April 9, 2015 | Last updated February 13, 2025

Ojou-sama Seisui
The Ojou-sama Seisui energy drink, which became a hot topic online and supposedly disappeared from kiosks all at once.
Is it really an energy drink? Under this dilemma, I even went as far as asking the kiosk about the restocking time to get my hands on it (*´ェ`*)

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of Ojou-sama Seisui

Honestly, every time I observed this as an energy drink and read into it, I couldn’t help but laugh (ヽ´ω`)

Ojou-sama Seisui seems to be a sister product to the enzyme drink 'Ojou-sama Koso' that the manufacturer originally sold. They seem to have sold it as 'holy water' rather than an energy drink, but why only this one was sold as holy water is unclear.

The taste is surprisingly good! Holy Water is delicious! ((o(´∀`)o))

Upon opening, a fruity aroma of apple, peach, and mango wafts up. Just from the smell, it seems like it might be delicious as a drink, raising expectations.

The color is a cloudy yellow, which seems to be intentional. I saw some photos on a site or blog with it foaming, but that’s probably intentional foaming. If you pour it normally, this is the result.

The carbonation is nice and lively, and it is indeed beautiful. However, the slight residue floating due to the cloudiness and carbonation is indescribable.

The taste is fruity and quite drinkable. It has the flavor of a fruit mix with a touch of vegetable juice, combined with a unique fragrance and sweetness. It’s rich and somewhat thick. This thick sweetness might be intentional to remind you of an energy drink.

There’s also a slight bitterness, which could be due to the various plant fermentation ingredients, or maybe it’s just the unique bitterness of artificial sweeteners... or perhaps because it’s holy water...

The fruit flavors themselves are quite refreshing, and the aftertaste doesn’t linger too long. However, due to the thickening agent, there’s a certain heaviness with the sweetness, and the taste of Ojou-sama’s holy water lingers in your mouth (*´ェ`*)

Energy Ingredients of Ojou-sama Seisui

To make the holy water an energy drink, they’ve carefully blended in 100mg of caffeine, 100mg of arginine, and 100mg of guarana. This might seem like a small amount, but when compared to other 190ml cans from different brands, it's surprisingly high.

Since it’s from the same manufacturer as Ojou-sama Koso, this holy water also contains 300mg of plant fermentation extract made from 117 different plants.

Thanks to these energy ingredients, "The goddess inside me awakens," so it’s not that the Ojou-sama herself is waking up because of the holy water (*ノェノ)キャー

If you read the can’s caution about handling the holy water, it mentions that it might spray out if shaken, or that there could be sediment because of the natural ingredients, and you can’t help but react to these details while drinking it (;´∀`)

Summary of Ojou-sama Seisui

In summary, I think it’s a perfectly drinkable energy drink. Personally, I didn’t think it tasted bad at all, and I even feel like I’d like to drink Ojou-sama Seisui again if I get the chance ((o(´∀`)o)).

Compared to other brands that have been sold for around 200 yen with an “energy drink” label, only to be discounted to around 30 yen or even 10 yen, Ojou-sama Seisui stands out. The stock even ran out temporarily, making it a rare product in the energy drink boom over the past few years. While there have been various "novelty" or "collaboration" drinks, none have left such a strong impression as this one.

That said, it became popular as a "novelty" and the limited circulation caused a temporary shortage, so it’s a small-scale product and can’t be compared on a larger scale. Still, considering how much media coverage it’s received, it’s definitely unusual.

I believe this phenomenon happened due to the combination of the "novelty drink" image of energy drinks and the concept of "putting Ojou-sama’s holy water (energy drink) in a can" (though that’s not the actual product concept).

However, when asked if this is really an energy drink, I honestly can’t say for sure (^_^;)
But one thing’s for sure: this has been a success as a new type of "energy drink trend."

Also, when I showed this to a foreign friend without saying anything, they said, “HENTAI, right☆” and burst out laughing. w
