Released on November 12, 2021, RENER Original is the energy drink from Konami Sports. The era has finally come where fitness gyms are launching their own energy drinks!

Rich and Sweet-Sour Classic Flavor

Upon taking a sip, you experience a sweet and sour, rich, and satisfying fruity classic flavor. Both the taste and aroma are bold, offering a high level of satisfaction.

The balance between sweetness and sourness is well-maintained, and there is almost no unnecessary chemical flavor that is often present in classic flavors. This makes it surprisingly easy to drink without any strong aftertaste.

Among the many classic flavors, the closest comparison might be Sangaria's Miracle Energy V. Can you imagine a rich and easy-to-recognize energy drink taste?

Although it’s a familiar flavor, there isn’t a distinctive “RENER Original” flavor that stands out, but conversely, it offers a stable and well-balanced classic flavor that is unlikely to divide opinions. There are no off-flavors, and personally, I enjoy this classic flavor.

Energy Ingredients of RENER Original

Contains 90mg of caffeine, 300mg of arginine, 67.5mg of carnitine, and 3000mg of citric acid. The amount of citric acid is relatively high.

Although this energy drink is from Konami Sports, which is associated with fitness, based on the energy ingredients, it is not a hardcore fitness-specific pre-workout energy drink, but rather a product aimed at the general public. With the current fitness boom, I am looking forward to seeing Konami Sports launch fitness-focused pre-workout energy drinks in the future.

Design of RENER Original

A simple design featuring a bright red can with a mirror-finished silver brush-style "R" logo. The alphabetic logo is a safe choice, so it might feel a bit too simple, but the red color pops, and the contrast between the red and white is striking.

By the way, the product name "RENER" is said to be a combination of "RECOVER" and "ENERGY." The relatively high amount of citric acid seems to be great for recovery.

Personally, I thought the taste of RENER Original was great, and the fact that it’s priced at 150 yen (tax included) for a 250ml can is a nice touch. Recently, in Japan, energy drinks have been trending toward larger sizes, and products that cost 200 yen for just 250ml are clearly overpriced. I believe mini-sized, high-priced energy drinks will face challenges in the future.

The RENER energy drink series is available for purchase on Amazon, Konami Sports Club's online shop, and at Konami Sports stores. They are planning to expand to convenience stores in the future. It would be interesting to see more flavor variations and specialized products for specific functions.
