Flavor of Survivor Energy Drink

Upon opening, a classic scent with a hint of acidity fills the air. It's a full-on energy drink aroma, almost to the point of being a bit too strong.

The taste... surprisingly, it’s very similar to Rockstar, with a strong chemical flavor that spreads and a sharp, clear taste. The main flavors are a medicinal taste and acidity, with a subtle sweetness. In short, it’s delicious!! (●´ω｀●)

However, the orange color doesn’t at all match the blueberry flavor I imagined. It would have been better to have a color more fitting to the can's design. There’s a mismatch between the visual and taste, haha.

Energy Ingredients of Survivor Energy Drink

With 120mg of caffeine and 325mg of arginine, the caffeine content and taste are quite similar to Japan’s Rockstar (^_^;)

The affordable price of around 100 yen, paired with the slightly higher-than-usual caffeine content, makes it an attractive option when choosing an energy drink.

Design of Survivor Energy Drink

The blue gradient and sparkling silver glitter are beautiful.

But for some reason, the Survivor logo has the silhouette of a necktie... The front illustration also shows a salaryman waving a flag. It vaguely reminds me of the old ReGain energy drink.

On the back, it says "Wake up! To all the adults," giving it a somewhat "supporting office workers" vibe. Honestly, I think this could have been avoided... Perhaps the "Stand up, salarymen" tone could be left to ReGain Energy Drink ReGain Energy Drink.
*After that, ReGain Energy Drink faded into obscurity within the world of energy drink enthusiasts.

Personally, I think a more positive and cool image would have been better. I really like the can’s color, but I feel the concept narrows the drink's appeal. Perhaps in Japan, the "survivor" concept is strongly associated with surviving in modern society…

The Silver-Orange Design After the Renewal is Quite Impressive

In 2018, the packaging design was renewed. The new silver and orange combination gives it a futuristic look with minimal Japanese text. The appearance doesn’t look like a 100 yen energy drink at all.

Let’s compare it with the old Survivor. It’s a dramatic shift from the 2015 "salaryman-style office worker energy drink" look.

I’m not sure if the people at Tominaga Trading read Energy Drink Mania's reviews, but the new packaging has a cool impression that fits any scene, unlike the old one.

If society is slowly moving away from the idea of "energy drinks = office worker drinks," then I’m glad to see that change.

昔飲んでいたのを思い出した。ロックスターの下位互換として定期的に買っていたが、自販機からなくなってしまい…。今はネットでも買えるようになったのか。昔とデザインがまるっきり違うんで別物かと思ったけど、相当昔にリニューアルしてたこともわかった。サバイバーエナジーはもっと評価されるべきだし、多くの人に飲んでもらって販路拡大をしてほしい。
