VooDoo ENERGY
Released in September 2014 in Denmark, VooDoo ENERGY was a limited-edition energy drink made with natural ingredients.
At the time of its release, it was expected to be a new energy drink following Red Bull and the long-standing Danish brand CULT ENERGY. The design was pop and attractive, and the taste wasn't bad. However, it couldn't become a leading Danish brand and was discontinued just two years after its launch, without expanding its flavor lineup.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Rich Cranberry Flavor
The bright red liquid fills the glass, releasing the sweet scent of red berries and blackberries.
When you taste it, you experience a rich flavor with the sweet and sour taste of cranberry and blackberry, along with a slight astringency.
Although it doesn't have a real fruity feel, it's not a realistic berry flavor. However, the mix of berry acidity, astringency, and the lingering strong scent allows you to enjoy changes in flavor, making it a surprisingly deep taste, contrary to the impression of the packaging design.
It's understandable that the brand aimed for a more premium positioning compared to other energy drinks. However, with its small size and high price, it was hard for this energy drink to gain repeat customers. It was discontinued after just two years without expanding its flavor lineup.
VooDoo ENERGY Energy Ingredients
Contains 78mg of caffeine, taurine, guarana, ginseng, and acai.
VooDoo ENERGY Design
The bright green can is adorned with a cute Voodoo logo in purple and white. The combination of green and purple creates a particularly pop-like impression, and I personally love the logo design.
The back of the can features icons for guarana, acai, and ginseng.
VooDoo ENERGY at Launch
VooDoo ENERGY was a brand launched by Danish entrepreneurs Martin Nielsen, Bjarke Johansen, and Peter Lauritsen, alongside German Andreas Müller. It was made with natural ingredients and was designed to be a unisex energy drink, not just for men but also approachable for women.
From the beginning, they had an eye on international expansion, but initially released it in their home country of Denmark. It quickly became available in all 7-Eleven stores. Although it seemed like it was gaining momentum, it didn't expand with new flavors and was discontinued after just two years with only one flavor released.
Rather than failing as an energy drink brand, VooDoo ENERGY was likely just one of many business ventures created by the founders. It's unclear whether they genuinely intended to expand internationally. The design was great, and there were many active posts on social media, so it would have been interesting to see more flavors or collaborations.
