PSYCHIK ENERGY LIGHT is a private brand energy drink from the French supermarket chain Carrefour. It has since been revamped and is now sold as PSYCHIK ENERGY ZERO.

Flavor of PSYCHIK ENERGY LIGHT

The flavor of PSYCHIK ENERGY LIGHT has a relatively bright, classic color compared to PSYCHIK ENERGY REGULAR. The scent is not sweet, but instead has a sharp, tangy aroma.

When I tried it, the taste was not as unsweet as the aroma suggested, but instead, it maintained a solid sweetness, making it a classic flavor. From the scent, I thought it would have a taste similar to many European drinks, where the sweetness is dialed down, so this was quite a surprise.

The difference from PSYCHIK ENERGY REGULAR is that PSYCHIK ENERGY LIGHT has no chemical taste, and only a slight tanginess spreads. The flavor itself is light and refreshing.

The taste is very similar to Red Bull's Sugar-Free version, with the artificial sweetener taste and slight bitterness typical of zero-calorie drinks. This is a clear example of an artificial sweetener flavor, so opinions may vary. Personally, the artificial sweetener taste is a bit too strong for my liking...

It contains 50mg of caffeine and 67.5mg of taurine. While it’s marketed as a taurine drink, the taurine content is quite low, which is a downside. The sugar content is 0.25g, so it's almost negligible. It also doesn’t contain the artificial sweetener aspartame.

The combination of mirror silver and light blue clearly indicates that it’s a sugar-free type. However, the design doesn’t give a particularly refined impression and even has a somewhat cheap vibe to it.

As a Carrefour private label energy drink, it’s popular for being affordable. Despite its design, it’s been well-loved by people who don’t mind the look but want a convenient energy boost. It has remained a long-selling product with this same design.
