This is a review of the STRONG FORCE X-TREME SOUR WATERMELON BOMB, released in 2020 as part of the STRONG FORCE series, a private brand by the German supermarket chain ALDI.

Originally launched as part of the "FLYING POWER" series in 2017, it was rebranded and released under the "STRONG FORCE" series in 2020.

During my 2020 trip to Germany, I noticed that both "FLYING POWER" and "STRONG FORCE" stocks were mixed. Despite the different series names, I’m categorizing this under the "FLYING POWER" series because the "STRONG FORCE" line was discontinued after the release of these three flavors.

The drink has a real, natural color and cloudiness, resembling grated watermelon. Surprisingly, the scent is quite natural, without an over-the-top fragrance.

Upon sipping, the first thing that hits you is a strong, sharp sourness, followed by the subtle, refreshing watermelon flavor. I was amazed by how realistically the watermelon’s juiciness and refreshing taste were recreated.

The sequence of the strong sourness followed by the clean sweetness of watermelon is excellent. Without the sourness, it might have just tasted like a bland watermelon flavor, but the sourness adds a layer of depth, elevating the watermelon flavor to a whole new level.

The aftertaste is impressively clean, without any lingering sweetness or sourness. It’s almost like drinking a naturally flavored, freshly squeezed watermelon soda without the artificial "melon" scent. The fact that the scent isn’t overpowering and the flavor doesn’t linger too long is definitely a plus.

While many major brands globally have released watermelon-flavored energy drinks, STRONG FORCE's budget-friendly watermelon flavor stands out. I believe it even surpasses some of the bigger brands in terms of overall quality and taste.

It contains 160mg of caffeine and 1000mg of taurine. For a 500ml can, the taurine content is half the usual amount found in energy drinks, but considering this is a low-cost energy drink priced around 60 yen, it's more than enough.

The juice content is 5%, with 4.5% apple juice and 0.5% watermelon juice.

The main color, a red reminiscent of watermelon flesh, is combined with green, which symbolizes watermelon rind. The design gives off a somewhat cheap feel, but the black part at the top of the can adds an artistic touch, making it stylish. If they had applied this style to the whole can, it would have been even more fun.

From the black artistic design part to the black top, the can has been finished with a sleek, tight appearance. The gold tab adds a sophisticated touch, making it hard to believe this is a budget-friendly energy drink priced around 60 yen.
