In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Full Throttle Energy Drink Blue Agave
The color of the can and the drink itself are very close, which makes pouring it quite enjoyable. Personally, I prefer when things are easy to imagine like this. (´∀`*)
The flavor is a tropical fruit-like taste with a light touch, as it’s based on Blue Agave, the raw ingredient for tequila. The same Blue Agave flavor is also found in Japan’s Burn Blue.
When you take a sip, the first sensation you feel is a cool menthol-like chill, followed by the sweet and refreshing taste of guava, dragon fruit, and kiwi.
It’s refreshing, yet the aftertaste lingers quite a bit, which is quite characteristic. You hardly feel the cooling sensation as you drink it, but later, a stimulating feeling rises from your stomach. Even though the flavor itself isn’t very strong, the lingering sensation is interesting. It’s a milder version of Monster Energy Extra Strength.
Energy Ingredients of Full Throttle Energy Drink Blue Agave
The ingredients are almost the same as the Citrus flavor. It contains a standard 160mg of caffeine, 197mg of D-Ribose, and 200% Niacin (40mg).
As for the ingredients, there’s nothing particularly unique or differentiated, so it mainly comes down to personal taste. Blue Agave flavor is quite rare, though. However, given that Full Throttle’s sales are steadily declining in the U.S. and their official website is quite plain, it seems Coca-Cola no longer has the intention of heavily promoting it. They appear to be leaving energy drinks to Monster now. It would be great if the packaging were returned to its previous design and the ingredients were refreshed to set it apart from other products. (-_-;)
Originally Full Throttle Blue Demon
The packaging has become simpler, and it is now called Full Throttle Blue Agave, but it used to have a much more intense design and was named "Full Throttle Blue Demon."
After some research, I found that reviews of the old Blue Demon mention the Blue Agave flavor, so it’s likely that only the packaging and name changed. As an energy drink enthusiast, I think the name Blue Demon was better, though.
Interestingly, I also discovered a picture of WWE wrestler Blue Demon alongside Full Throttle (*´艸`*) Blue Demon’s origin is Mexico, and Blue Agave also comes from Mexico. Hmm, maybe it was better left as it was. Haha.
