Full Throttle ORANGE

Posted on October 24, 2020 | Last updated February 7, 2025

Full Throttle ORANGE
The orange flavor of Full Throttle, which was released after Coca-Cola transitioned to Monster Energy. It's also available in Canada, so this time I compared the versions from both the US and Canada.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of Full Throttle ORANGE

Full Throttle ORANGE
The aroma and color are clearly that of a traditional orange soda.

When I take a sip, it's a sweet orange flavor with almost no acidity. It's really sweet! There's no noticeable sourness, so it feels like a very sweet orange juice even though the sweetness isn't overwhelming.

This mellow sweetness is from sugar, not orange juice, and the taste is more like a cheap, under-$1 orange juice. There's no fresh, refreshing feel or bitterness, just the sweetness and aroma of orange, which makes it a bit monotonous—maybe I’d get bored before finishing the whole can.

Energy Ingredients of Full Throttle ORANGE

Full Throttle ORANGE
Contains 160mg of caffeine and taurine. There are no other energy ingredients.

Design of Full Throttle ORANGE

Full Throttle ORANGE
The design is inspired by the American national emblem. This design came after Full Throttle became part of Monster Energy. It looks really good.

Here’s a comparison of the "Citrus" and "Orange" flavors of Full Throttle, since their colors are quite similar.
Full Throttle ORANGE
When placed side by side, the color difference between Citrus and Orange is clear, but on their own, they might seem the same. Perhaps because of this, the color of Citrus was changed from yellow to black and white.

Later, this Orange flavor was discontinued. Perhaps because the taste was too cheap, after all, for $2, you can buy a larger bottle of orange juice.

Comparison of Full Throttle Orange between the US and Canada

Full Throttle is also available in Canada, and this subtle orange flavor can be found there too. So, I compared the American and Canadian versions of Full Throttle Orange.

Full Throttle ORANGE
The color and aroma are identical for both. When I try the Canadian version, it’s the same sweet orange, with no noticeable difference from the American version. The taste is nearly the same, and there’s no real difference. It's rare for the flavor to be so similar despite being made in different countries, but actually, both the American and Canadian versions of Full Throttle's original flavor taste almost identical.

By the way, the ingredients, including the sugar content, are almost identical between the Canadian and American versions. The contents seem to be exactly the same.
