What Happens If You Drink Energy Drinks Every Day!? A Fan Who Has Been Drinking Them Since 2013 Writes About It
↓ This is a part of the energy drinks I have consumed so far, excluding my collection, and it's what remains after disposing of about 1,700 cans in 2019. My collection is separate and consists of around 4,900 cans, with about 800 cans of unopened stock, including those waiting for review and those for regular consumption (as of 2020). I am an energy drink enthusiast who has tried energy drinks from all around the world.
"The idea that drinking energy drinks every day will kill you"... This is a popular and amusing topic found on the internet. What happens if you drink an energy drink every day, one can per day, without fail!?
Since I have been drinking energy drinks almost every day since the website was established in 2013, I would like to share my personal experience and summarize what happens when you drink energy drinks every day.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Energy Drink Main Ingredients
Energy drinks mainly contain sugar, caffeine, and vitamins. Depending on the product, some may contain trace amounts of amino acids or herbal ingredients. For more information on the ingredients, please refer to the page "Energy Drink Ingredients and Effects List".
By the way, the sugar content is about the same as cola, apple juice, and orange juice, while the caffeine is roughly equivalent to one cup of coffee.

There’s nothing strange in there, right? If you’re concerned about specific ingredients, feel free to check out the "Energy Drink Ingredients and Effects List", or ask a doctor or researcher about each ingredient. When doing so, it might help to also mention your daily eating habits and exercise routine, as you could receive advice like "It's better not to consume excess sugar" or "It's safe to drink, no problem."

Possibility of Caffeine Addiction
Drinking one can a day doesn’t seem to cause caffeine addiction symptoms for me.
Drinking one energy drink a day is roughly equivalent to drinking "one to two cups of coffee" daily, so it’s easier to understand if you imagine that. People who drink coffee, tea, or green tea regularly are likely consuming the same or more caffeine than when drinking energy drinks.
Since most energy drinks contain only about the same amount of caffeine as one cup of coffee, there’s no need to worry about caffeine addiction if you drink one can every day.

Possibility of Weight Gain
Energy drinks contain the same amount of sugar and calories as cola or fruit juice.
If you drink sugary drinks every day, the extra calories you consume will gradually increase body fat. It might not be noticeable for younger people in their teens or early twenties, but as you get into your thirties, you may start to notice fat accumulation. You could end up gaining a significant amount of body fat in a year, even without drinking energy drinks.
Besides energy drinks or juice, those with a high-calorie diet and little exercise may also gain weight as they age. For people in their mid-20s and beyond who are consuming the extra calories of an energy drink daily, it’s advisable to be cautious.
A 250ml can contains about 120kcal, and since it takes 7200kcal to gain 1kg of fat, if your eating and exercise habits don’t change, you could theoretically gain 1kg of body fat in 60 days (though of course, it's not that simple in reality). Your metabolism may increase as you gain weight, so you won’t necessarily gain 1kg every 60 days, but this is an easy way to think about it.
Insomnia
This issue isn’t exclusive to energy drinks, and it really depends on the time of consumption and your individual body type. Caffeine has a half-life of about 4 to 6 hours, so if you drink it six hours before bedtime, caffeine may still affect your sleep. But this isn’t unique to energy drinks; coffee can have the same effect.
Some people can consume caffeine and still sleep fine, but even then, the quality of sleep could be affected. So, the way caffeine impacts sleep varies depending on one’s body, sleep quality, and time spent sleeping.
For example, if you drink energy drinks for a refreshment in the morning but can’t sleep at night, it probably isn’t the energy drink causing it. If you drink an energy drink or coffee in the morning, you’re unlikely to be wired all day long!

Can Drinking Energy Drinks Every Day Lead to Death?
It seems unlikely that drinking one energy drink a day could lead to death. As mentioned earlier, the ingredients aren’t dangerous, so it would be similar to drinking sugary drinks or eating sweets regularly. It’s more about the overall lifestyle, including your diet, exercise habits, age, and health conditions.
While it’s impossible to say for sure that drinking one can a day wouldn’t contribute to death, based on the ingredients, it seems unlikely that energy drinks alone would be the cause. In many cases, deaths involving energy drinks were from drinking 1-2 liters, sometimes in extreme situations where the person consumed excessive amounts.
Be cautious about fake news regarding energy drinks and deaths.

Caffeine aside, consuming excess sugar and calories from energy drinks daily can increase body fat and raise the risk of lifestyle-related diseases, which could potentially put your life at risk. However, this is true for other high-calorie food and drink as well, so it’s necessary to consider everything as part of your overall lifestyle.
Risky Behavior
There are occasional studies that suggest young people who drink energy drinks may be more likely to experiment with drugs or develop mental health issues like depression. However, these studies don’t specify which ingredients caused these behaviors.
There’s no detailed data showing how specific ingredients might cause these outcomes, and the studies tend to focus on correlations rather than causality. After all, many people, young
