KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg
This is the renewed KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg, which was revamped in 2023.
Although the ingredient composition is exactly the same and the color of the drink remains the same green apple hue as the previous version, it may appear as though only the packaging has been updated. However, the flavor has been improved, and it has received high praise. Let’s go ahead and try it.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg
Upon opening, a sweet apple aroma fills the air. The color is the same green as the previous Apple Figg. Has the flavor changed? Let’s give it a try.
When I take a sip, I get a sweet and tangy green apple flavor, with the pear-like taste that was prominent in the original version now toned down.
The previous version had an apple-like fragrance but the pear flavor was the dominant taste, creating a slightly disjointed feeling where it took time to recognize the flavor. However, this new version has about 80-90% of the sweet green apple flavor, making both the taste and aroma feel much more stable.
The smooth sweetness, which seems impossible for a zero-sugar drink, carries over from the previous version. It’s almost like enjoying a refreshing apple sauce with a slight thickness to it. This flavor really doesn’t taste like zero sugar at all. The pear flavor that was strongly present in the original has been toned down, which now highlights the apple sweetness and eliminates any sensation of "zero sugar."
It’s rare to find such a lack of "zero" flavor. On the other hand, if you're looking for a refreshing, unsweetened apple taste, this might be so similar to a sugary drink that it could be seen as indistinguishable from one with full sugar.
Energy Ingredients of KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg
Contains 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 2000mg of citrulline for pump, 1000mg of beta-alanine for endurance, and 300mg of tyrosine for brain function.
Although KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg is now part of the "eSports Series," the ingredients are the same as the original version. It would have been nice if it included specific ingredients tailored for gamers.
Design of KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg
The design of KAMIKAZE ENERGY Apple Figg, along with the product, has been revamped. The overall green apple color and red combination give the impression of a stronger apple theme than before.
The design is simple, with just the KAMIKAZE ENERGY logo, and the large “神風” (Kamikaze) logo that was used in the previous design is now gone.
Instead, the Kanji for "神風" is now more legible on the back.
Comparing the old and new designs, the icon for the dumbbell, which was used to represent citrulline in the previous version, has now been replaced by tyrosine in the new version.
The composition of the energy ingredients hasn’t changed, so it seems that the icon merely reflects the ingredient they wanted to highlight more.
Personally, I wish the update had been limited to just the flavor. The packaging has become so simple that the signature boldness of KAMIKAZE ENERGY seems lost.
While it still looks appealing when displayed alongside other KAMIKAZE ENERGY products, the Apple Figg version alone seems lacking in impact. This is especially true when considering how cool the original black design looked at launch.
