KiiVA Energy Beauty Drink
This is a review of the KiiVA Energy Beauty Drink.
※At the time, it was marketed as a carbonated beverage targeted at women, but now it has become firmly established as one of the domestic energy drink brands under the KIIVA series.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of KiiVA Energy Beauty Drink
The can has a white base with yellow accents, so I thought the drink inside would be yellow, but it turned out to be a beautiful pink. The scent is sweet and tropical, which indeed gives off the feeling that it's made for women.
The taste is just like the pink color—peach. There's nothing particularly special about it, as it has a moderate sweetness with a clean, refreshing aftertaste that doesn't linger, making it easy to drink. This seems to be designed with women in mind. Some may find it a bit too light, but for those who enjoy a subtle taste, it's quite pleasant.
I was drinking it while going through some work checks, and it disappeared quickly, which shows that the taste doesn't have a strong impact.
Energy Ingredients of KiiVA Energy Beauty Drink
For beauty ingredients, it contains 30mg of collagen, 11mg of placenta, 190mg of Vitamin C, and 15mg of royal jelly.
As for energy ingredients, it includes 230mg of arginine, 86mg of caffeine, and 15mg of guarana.
Given that this drink balances both energy and beauty benefits, I thought it would contain more significant amounts of beauty ingredients. However, the doses are quite small, so it’s better to think of it as a refreshing carbonated drink rather than a supplement or beauty drink.
The packaging design and taste don’t scream "energy drink" (due to the caffeine), but with caffeine content similar to that of Red Bull, it likely provides similar alertness effects. However, I imagine someone who says, "Red Bull really works for me!" would try KiiVA and think, "What is this? It's just juice!" This is likely due to Japan's strong association with the distinct taste of energy drinks.
Is It Okay to Target Only Women?
It seems KiiVA is completely targeting women, as even the official website mentions, “Traditional energy drinks were hard for women to pick up.” This is reflected in the design, the color of the drink, and the taste.
However, just labeling it as a "beauty drink" might cause most men to avoid it altogether. In contrast, drinks like Red Bull are supported by a broad range of women, who often post pictures on social media, driving massive sales and making it the top-selling drink. The question remains whether focusing solely on women is the best approach, especially in a unique market like energy drinks.
I’m curious to see how it fares between more potent beauty drinks that can provide things like 1000mg of placenta and regular energy drinks going forward.
