Old KIIVA ENERGY VODKA 2018 Flavor

Upon opening, a rich, sweet, perfume-like scent gently wafts through the air. When poured into a glass, the color is a beautiful rose pink. This type of transparent color really stands out in a glass!

When I took a sip, the flavor was that of a sweet cocktail, and there was no acidity or harshness. The fragrance, which was even more pronounced than the taste, envelops both the mouth and nose like a luxurious, sweet perfume.

The strength of this characteristic scent is quite powerful, and it reminds me of the soft, enveloping, sweet scent that you might find in the Japanese version of Monster Original (though not similar in scent).

This strong fragrance makes the sweetness feel even smoother and more intense than the actual taste. There’s a hint of a classic, non-acidic flavor as well.

The base sweetness and strong fragrance are enhanced by the bitterness and unique flavor of the alcohol, which improves the overall taste. It's actually quite delicious (*´艸｀*).

What’s the Flavor Difference Between KIIVA Vodka and KIIVA Original?

I wondered if the base of the recent KiiVA Original and KiiVA Vodka was similar, so I drank the original while writing this review. However, KIIVA Vodka is much richer in flavor and fragrance in every way. It seems that KiiVA Vodka doesn’t simply inherit the original.

The original version has a fresh, tangy flavor that's closer to a classic, refreshing taste. But KIIVA Vodka doesn’t have that crispness.

If KIIVA Vodka had followed the original's lighter taste with a strong carbonation, the vodka’s alcohol flavor might not have stood out as much. KIIVA Vodka as it is seems like the right approach. The perfume-like scent that hits you at first was surprising, but it eventually becomes a lasting accent, allowing you to slowly enjoy the sweetness and alcohol flavor, which is highly satisfying (●´ω｀●).

Old KIIVA ENERGY VODKA 2018 Energy Ingredients

There is no caffeine listed, but it contains 437mg of arginine and 315mg of guarana. No mention of caffeine from guarana or anything else. It's unclear how the caffeine in guarana affects the drink, but I don't think it’s something to worry about. The alcohol content is 5%, but it feels even more satisfying than that.

There are no particularly unusual ingredients, so there’s no concern about becoming drowsy or alert while drinking this vodka as it might happen with energy drinks. The flavor is good enough to enjoy just as an alcoholic beverage ( ´∀｀)b Good!

Old KIIVA ENERGY VODKA 2018 Design

The can design was done by designer Tommy Lim, and among the colorful chuhai drinks in the refrigerated shelf, KIIVA Vodka stood out the most.

It’s a very cool design, but the 350ml can size feels somewhat underwhelming. As with Kickstart Grape, this can size and shape isn’t particularly well-received in the energy drink community. A 355ml slim-type can would have more presence, and I hope they’ll consider it in the future.

KIIVA’s familiar slogan “Go down a different path” is also present on this alcoholic drink. Since it's an alcoholic beverage, it might be interesting if there were a different message targeting adults, separate from their energy drink line.

The tab is a standard silver tab. Staying true to Tommy Lim's world, I’d love to see a combination of black tops with white tabs or the reverse.
