KIIVA HYDRATION

The KIIVA HYDRATION, which underwent a design renewal in 2020 from the previous KIIVA STRONG, was further revamped in November 2021 with changes to its contents.

This time, I will review the newly updated KIIVA HYDRATION, and also compare the old and new versions to see the differences.

Flavor of KIIVA HYDRATION

The first impression upon tasting is that it’s “sweeter” compared to the previous KIIVA I’ve tried. With this color, it almost feels like an artificial watermelon flavor. The aftertaste might remind you of a slight ice-cold watermelon bar flavor.

The acidity is very mild, and the texture is smooth. Compared to the past, where KIIVA had a strong chemical, perfume-like flavor, this feels quite different. It’s light and fruity, making it much easier to drink when chilled.

According to the official description, it’s supposed to have a berry taste, and while I can agree with that to some extent, the impression of the flavor might vary from person to person.

Comparison of Old and New KIIVA HYDRATION Flavors

Now, let’s compare how the flavor and ingredients of the KIIVA HYDRATION have changed with the renewal.

The new KIIVA HYDRATION is noticeably brighter and has a more vivid pink color. The old one is slightly past its expiration date, so the color has faded a bit... but I didn’t expect such a difference.

Now, let’s compare the tastes. The old KIIVA HYDRATION had a more tart flavor, while the new one has a softer sweetness. It feels like the flavor and fragrance have been completely revamped, making the new version almost feel like a different product from the old one.

Personally, I prefer the new KIIVA HYDRATION. The artificial sharpness and peculiarities in taste and fragrance have been toned down, making it much more drinkable. I wonder how others who’ve been drinking KIIVA feel about the flavor change after this renewal?

Energy Ingredients of KIIVA HYDRATION

Contains 160mg of caffeine, 625mg of arginine, and 200mg of guarana. The ingredient amounts in the 500ml size are quite standard.

By the way, there were changes in the nutritional values between the old and new versions, particularly with the carbohydrate amount. It decreased from a relatively high 61g to a more standard 54.5g. There were no changes in energy ingredients such as caffeine.

Design of KIIVA HYDRATION

The design by Tommy Rim. The sharp and dynamic vibe is exactly what you'd expect from an energy drink, and this design has become the image of KIIVA.

Let’s take a look at the design differences between the old and new KIIVA HYDRATION.

The base design remains the same, but the color scheme has subtly changed. The old KIIVA HYDRATION used a silver combination, while the new one uses white. Most people might not notice the difference in-store.

Here are both versions of the newly updated KIIVA HYDRATION.

It seems there’s a mix of black and silver tabs. The black tab is from when I originally purchased it, while the silver tab came with the KIIVA HYDRATION I received recently as part of the three original KIIVA flavors.

KIIVA’s original line has three sizes, and although the designs are similar, each one is subtly different, with the product names labeled as HYDRATION, EXTRA, and MAXIMUM.

Honestly, it’s hard to tell the difference. It turns out that not only the sizes are different, but the flavors are also slightly varied, so if you're curious, I suggest trying them out and comparing the tastes for yourself.
