KIIVA MAXIMUM

The KIIVA MAXIMUM 250ml was released in May 2022.

So far, the 350ml KIIVA Extra and the 500ml KIIVA Hydration have been released. The new KIIVA MAXIMUM, along with these three sizes, features KIIVA's original flavor, though the taste and ingredients are slightly different.

In this review, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the KIIVA MAXIMUM and comparing all three sizes to explore their distinct characteristics.

Flavor of KIIVA MAXIMUM

Upon taking a sip, the soft and smooth sweet-sour flavor spreads. The previously noticeable chemical and perfume-like scents typical of KIIVA are no longer present, and the rich sweetness stands out. Compared to the 350ml and 500ml versions, the sweetness and texture are distinctly stronger.

KIIVA officially labels this as a berry flavor, but it lacks a fruity taste or the sensation of real fruit, offering an artificially fruity flavor typical of energy drinks. The once harsh perfume-like scent is completely gone, and it feels like the product has truly distanced itself from the chemical flavor. Personally, I think it has become much more drinkable.

KIIVA Original 3 Varieties Comparison

Now, let's compare the three varieties. From left to right: KIIVA MAXIMUM, KIIVA EXTRA, KIIVA HYDRATION.

The colors are almost identical, though the 350ml KIIVA EXTRA appears slightly lighter. You wouldn't notice the color difference unless they were lined up together.

When tasted, the base flavor is the same for each, but there are slight differences. The KIIVA EXTRA stands out with a clear difference. Here's a summary of the differences:

- The 250ml KIIVA MAXIMUM is rich in sweetness and texture.
- The 350ml KIIVA EXTRA has a stronger chemical bite.
- The 500ml KIIVA HYDRATION has a refreshing, light sweetness that doesn't linger.

For those who regularly drink KIIVA, the differences will be apparent even without a side-by-side comparison. However, for those who don't drink KIIVA often, they might just think these are different-sized products and not notice the flavor differences.

Energy Ingredients of KIIVA MAXIMUM

Contains 100mg of caffeine, 312mg of arginine, and 100mg of guarana.

Compared to the 160mg of caffeine in the 350ml KIIVA EXTRA, this feels slightly more moderate. It might have been better to include 160mg of caffeine in the 250ml version as well.

Design of KIIVA MAXIMUM

The designer Tommy Lim's edgy design with KIIVA's original color stands out. The slim 250ml can is the best fit for Tommy Lim's sharp design. Personally, I like the size of the KIIVA MAXIMUM among the three KIIVA sizes.

On the back, the words "Designed by CALIFORNIA" are written.

I think it would be great to mention Tommy Lim more, but there might be a reason for not doing so. Also, there's the KIIVA poem.

When lined up, the 250ml, 350ml, and 500ml KIIVA original series show subtle color differences.

I imagine that the more red there is, the stronger the flavor, and the color combination here matches that idea. The 500ml HYDRATION, with its smaller red area, has a lighter and more refreshing taste, while the MAXIMUM's deeper red makes it rich in smooth and firm sweetness.

That said, the base color of black is the same for all of them, and the rest of the color combinations are quite similar, so not many people may notice the design differences at the store.
